4.0 out of 5 stars Pop Eclair
"Spin This" takes the Rembrandts to a new phase, essentially Danny Wilde's solo disc. Best known in my house as recording the theme song to "Friends" from their "L.P." CD, there is some great stuff on this disc. The opener "Shakespeare's Tragedy" is one of the prettiest, catchiest tracks, "I don't want to make you, I just want to take you down to the cool clear water...

BOY! This guy doesn't just write like Lennon... he sounds just like him, too. The songwriting on Spin This is very good but the Rembrandts would be a better band if they would lose the sythesizers and just stick to an organic rock sound. The best song on this album, "Long Walk Back" (co-written by Jessie Valenzuela of Gin Blossoms fame) is a rock and roll...

"Spin This" takes the Rembrandts to a new phase, essentially Danny Wilde's solo disc. Best known in my house as recording the theme song to "Friends" from their "L.P." CD, there is some great stuff on this disc. The opener "Shakespeare's Tragedy" is one of the prettiest, catchiest tracks, "I don't want to make you, I just want to take you down to the cool clear water under the sun-filled sky; I need you & you need me; God alone knows why." Wilde joined with former Gin Blossoms' Jesse Valenzuela to write "Long Walk Back" that has chiming guitars and a driving beat. "Out of Time" is soft orchestral pop followed by the thundering crunch of "Wishin' Well." My two favorite tracks are the opener and "Summertime," both of whose orchestral arrangements were written by Van Dyke Parks, "It won't long until I melt away, and like a river runs into the bay, today the sun is hiding; tomorrow it will shine in summertime." "Tomorrow's Mine" has dense guitars on a midtempo track followed by the slow thunder of "Get It Right." "Eloise" has a pulsing beat. "This Close to Heaven" rocks well, "I've been down too long without you." The CD concludes with "Beautiful Thing," "Sometimes I think I think too much; when I feel I'm losing touch, I've got just the record to play." "Spin This" is a great pop disc complete with 3 standout tracks and is consistently good. Don't miss it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Wilde is back and wilder than ever!, June 30, 1998

I, like many I'm sure, thought that the quirky "I'll Be There For You" was the end of the Rembrandts. With radios over-duing the song, most of my friends got sick of it. I enjoyed "LP," but I didn't think it was possible for the band to go any farther.

Then, out of nowhere, came "Long Walk Back" on the radio. And I loved it! "Spin This" is an incredible listen with catchy tunes and down-to-earth guitars. Danny Wilde has a great voice, and the band's evolved much from "LP" and "Untitled." Much in the right direction.

4.0 out of 5 stars Just Great, November 20, 2001
This review is from: Spin This (Audio CD)
Well since Phil left the rembrandts Danny wilde was under obligation to produce a new Remdrandts album so here it is. It again sticks to Rembrandts territory of strong melodies harmonies and an ear for a good tune. This time however the sound is very much stripped down ala the bands debut album 'The Rembrandts'. the songs however are as strong as ever with Danny showing us again why he is regarded as one of the best songwriters ever. Like previous albums theres slow songs, Shakespeare's Tragedy, Out Of Time and summertime
and fast ones Long Walk Back,Tomorrow's Mine, Eloise and This Close To Heaven. One of the best songs has to be the albums cloer Beautiful Thing an ironic slice of pop, danny sings about using a song to make everything alright and that his song would be the catchiest out there, and you've guessed it theis song is VERY catcha complete with 'Hey Jude' stye naaa naaaa's
So to conclude get this album if your a RemBrandts or Danny fan, and if not pick this up if you appreciate good guitar music you wont be dissapointed!

The best song on this album, "Long Walk Back" (co-written by Jessie Valenzuela of Gin Blossoms fame) is a rock and roll gem, and will no doubt make the playlist at countless rock format radio stations, but, unfortunately, it's hard for me to take an album so eighties-ish seriously.

4.0 out of 5 stars This is the Rembrandts I love, June 12, 1998

When hearing that Phil Solem was no longer a part of the Rembrandts but that Danny Wilde would continue releasing albums using the name, I was incredibly disappointed. Although neither "Untitled" or "LP" lived up to their incredible self-titled release, I thought for sure this would be the end of it. Boy, was I wrong! This album is reminiscent of that first album-the harmonies aren't quite as strong, but the focus here is back on the vocals, and that's always been the big attraction for me.

4.0 out of 5 stars Really Good!, January 22, 2010
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Spin This (Audio CD)
I always liked the song "The Way It Is"
and thought most of the Rembrandts cd
lacked good songs. This cd did not have
his partner Phil Solem. It's really good.
The songs have a folk rock feel. Not a bad
song on it. Although the cd has a cohesive sound
each song has a unique individual quality.
If you are a fan of Jude Cole, Bill LLoyd
or any great pop/rock singer songwriter you
will enjoy this cd. They are giving used
copies of this away on Amazon. Get it
before the word gets out.

4.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely.., April 11, 2008
This review is from: Spin This (Audio CD)
Spin This is a complete package of well crafted tunes. As all Rembrandt music created the stylistic overflow from the Beatles is certain... but a very good thing to be for sure.
Danny's sure sense of melody is his true gift.Others familiar with his work will note there is nothing new or out of the ordinary on the effort. The guitars jangle against stacked harmony and tasteful B3 filler. If your a songwriter or a someone starving for solid tunes this is a nice snack. Certainly listenable all the way through.
Tracks 2[Long Walk Back] and 3[Out of Time] are standouts and alone are value worth buying the CD. Additionally, also consider Rembrandts Lost Together Album.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another truly excellent album, October 7, 1999

This review is from: Spin This! (Audio CD)
Spin This...another album by The Rembrandts, this time minus Phil Solem. Danny Wilde proves he's got what it takes to still carry on writing good songs. This album blows me away..from slow ones like out of time to more lively ones like This Close to Heaven & Heard Enough. The Rembrandts...So much more than I'll Be There For You !!!!!!
