4.0 out of 5 stars Fun but flimsy
This is a fun little toy. My 5 year old goes up to it and practices his letters and numbers and drawing pictures. He really enjoys it. It's a good size, and the pen holds enough water so that you're not constantly refilling it.

My daughter celebrated her birthday and recieved one of theses as a gift. She already has the floor mat so I was excited to see how this worked.
It's perfect for doodling, practicing letters and numbers and whatever you can think of.

This is a fun little toy. My 5 year old goes up to it and practices his letters and numbers and drawing pictures. He really enjoys it. It's a good size, and the pen holds enough water so that you're not constantly refilling it.

But it just seems so flimsy for the price. It's just a special paper you stick on the wall with blue tak (which my son easily removes). Maybe if it were a little thicker, even like cardboard, it would seem more sturdy. And I wish the pen had a cap and a place to store it. It's just lying around, and we have to locate it and make sure it didn't get water on anything through it's uncovered tip.

Also, it's funny that the pen screws open the opposite way to fill it with water. Is this so children don't open it? I'm always turning it the wrong way. I think I'm tightening it, but end up loosening it. Oh well, just a minor thing.

I'm a bit dissapointed with the quality it's very thin and rips easily. For the price you might as well nail or thumb tack the floor mat to the wall as it's far more durable than this. I have no complaints about the pen leaking water as it's a very small amount of water in the pen and it's water not ink so it's a very clean toy.

Although I appreciated the size of the Wall Mat, it is NOT made out of the same material as the regular AquaDoodle. It feels more like paper, does not dry as quick, and gets dirty. The durability is awful. We tossed the Wall Mat into the trash after only a few uses, and I replaced it with the Classic AquaDoodle. It is a much better product.

2.0 out of 5 stars cheap, cheap, cheap!, December 17, 2008

We bought this for our son last year. Luckily we didn't pay near what the normal asking price on it is. It wasn't at all what I expected when I ordered it. It is just a thin paper poster with the Aquadoodle coating on it. Very cheap! Tears very easily, soaks in the moisture if used to much. Really not worth the money. Go for the normal Aquadoodle mat.

My son received this for christmas...and he really really enjoyed it. However it was trashed and ripped in 3 weeks. I plan on buying an regular aquadoodle and putting that on the wall.

I specifically ordered this one vs. the wall "banner" or whatever the other one is called because everyone said that one was paper-thin. I thought this one would be thicker since it was labeled a "mat" like another Aquadoodle product we have. Negatory, ghostrider. It isn't tissue paper thin, but it definitely isn't thick enough that I would be confident it wouldn't rip.

I reinforced the back with tape so it would be stronger. I'm not sure how long that will last - if the water bleeds through to the other side, it won't last long. All in all, this was WAY overpriced for the quality of the product. Our Dora and Diego Aquadoodle floor mat was only $15 more and it is virtually indestructible, and it came with a car that follows where you draw and several props.

I am quite disappointed in this product and would not recommend it unless you are planning on attaching it to the wall and only using it occasionally.

3.0 out of 5 stars Kids love it but won't last, December 25, 2008

I gave this to my 4 year old nephew for Christmas. It's a terrific idea. He and his twin sister love classic Aquadoodle, now how about one that hangs on the wall. Included is a stick of tacky putty to hang it on the wall. Since the children were at the grandparent's house, Mom let them use it on the floor. Unlike classic Aquadoodle, this one feels like a very thin cardboard. It works just as well and has the same fun factor. The kids loved drawing on it. Within a few short hours, it was creased and wrinkled. It still works and it can still be hung on the wall, but it surely is not as asthetically appealing. I'm not sure if any of this would be a problem if the product was hung on the wall and used as intended out of the box. I'm pretty sure a lot of kids do play with it this way and I'd like to warn parents not to let their kids do this, unless its condition doesn't bother them.

Pros:
+large surface area for drawing
+use only water to fill the pen and color
+hang it on a wall

Cons:
-thin material wrinkles and creases easily

Got this last Christmas and came back to buy more for family and friends. It's not 100% toddler proof, but we've got 5 kids 11-2 and they use it a lot at first 3-4 times a day (it's big enough for 2 to use together--bonus!) and now it's used at least weekly (almost a year later). We love the neetness of it and it has kept my youngest artists from drawing on the walls. Yea!! It works well with any type of sponge stamps, so the ones you can buy that are aquadoodle brand are nice but not necessary for optimal fun. It's really thin, it reminds me of the weather barrier they put on homes before siding, but ours hasn't ripped yet. We've moved it to different walls 4 times and it's showing some wear now. But for the price ($10) it's been fabulous!

I am a pediatric occupational therapist and I love this for my students. Helps facilitate a good wrist position, which in turn helps facilitate a good grasp. I use this with little pieces of q tips and cotton balls too.

My 8 year old wanted this for Christmas, and I thought he was crazy (that is was way to young for him). Got it anyway, and everyone loves it. It's so simple, and I guess that's why it works. It hangs in our hallway, and my kids and their friends will stop and draw or write something whenever they feel like it. It's a hit for my 5 year old, 8 year old, and their 9 and 10 year old cousins!
