5.0 out of 5 stars My daugher loves this toy
My 2 year old loves all of the Aquadoodle toys but she likes this one the most. She doesn't go anywhere without it. And it's very durable. I can't tell you how many times she's dropped it down the back steps. The flip screen has popped out and the little booklet, but they both pop right back into place. And unlike the travel version this one is small enough to throw right...

3.0 out of 5 stars Fun, but not sturdy enough
It works very good and not having to worry about the lid to the pen being left off and drying out is great. But the drawing area came out of the frame after a couple hours of play.

This is a nice, portable Aquadoodle that fits in larger diaper bags. The spiral bound cards teach writing the letters of the alphabet in a step-by-step manner and the blue drawing area flips over to allow doodling on the other side.

BENEFITS
--------
+ Portable (if you have a larger diaper bag and you kid is 2 or older). This is made of sturdy plastic and is 1" thick.

+ The spiral bound cards are cute. It shows the stroke order for writing letters of the alphabet. The last step of each letter shows how to convert that letter into a cute drawing.

+ The drawing area flips over to reveal a 2nd drawing area.

NOTES
------
* The Aquadoodle pen is a bit loose. So you'll need to buy a replacement Aquadoodle Brush and Penif you lose it. I also question how well this works in a car since your kid may complain if the Aquadoodle pen is dropped while you're driving.

* There are 2 drawing surfaces and each is 30% larger than an index card.

* According to Amazon, this is for ages 2+ (Make sure you screw on the pen cap tight before giving it to a kid under 3).

4.0 out of 5 stars My 2yo boy thinks it's a Blue's Clues notebook!, May 23, 2007
= Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:4.0 out of 5 stars

My soon to be 2yo boy got this for his birthday on Monday. He is a old style Blue's Clues fan and loves drawing in his notebook. He took one look at this and squeals, "NOTEBOOK!" and he was off. It only took him a few tries to master the flipping of the doodler, and we only had to refill the pen about every 90 minutes. He drew all day long.
The only problem was that he managed to get a tiny bit of banana on one spot and we cannot get it off and he has spread it everywhere. How do you clean the surface from toddler finger mishaps? otherwise we would have given it 5 stars. It has been his constant companion for the last 2 days. We will see if it holds up to this abuse for long. It is small enough to take with him where ever we go, and no need to worry about the water getting on walls or seats or anywhere.
