4.0 out of 5 stars Great Family Fun
This is an incredibly inexpensive, fun toy. We bought it for our 4 year old girl. The whole family enjoyed flying it. I agree with a previous reviewer that it is not difficult to wait the two minutes in between flights to re-charge. In fact, I've found that it's not necessary to wait that long anyway. Particularly if you have rechargeable nimh batteries! I strongly...

3.0 out of 5 stars E Charger
Once you get the hang of it, the plane really takes off! You can run to keep up with it so it doesn't get lost in the trees (not a problem in an open field) which is good exercise. I don't know how many crashes it will endure before breaking. The biggest drawback is waiting 2 minutes in between charges so you don't burn out the charger. The flight doesn't last that...

The flight doesn't last that long, so you have to bide your time until you can charge it again. My son tends to lose interest waiting.

I agree with a previous reviewer that it is not difficult to wait the two minutes in between flights to re-charge. In fact, I've found that it's not necessary to wait that long anyway. Particularly if you have rechargeable nimh batteries! I strongly recommend (as does the manufacturer) flying this in an open field or park. The foam body takes a beating from pavement. Also, it's quite educational, in that you need to adjust the tail flaps to level flying, etc. We were the envy of all at the park. Everyone was amazed by the plane and wanted to know what it was and where we bought it. It makes an incredibly cool and inexpensive birthday gift too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Flying, June 11, 2001

My five-year-old and I have had great success flying this plane and getting good distances and interesting aerobatics. It's very durable and mine has lasted through at least a hundred flights so far. His didn't last as long, as might be expected. It would be nice to be able to purchase replacement planes without the charger. I have not seen this yet.

Waiting 2 minutes between flights is not difficult - it takes that long to retrieve the plane and get back to the launching point. It's important to have a large open area for the flights. It takes a little practice to launch properly - into the wind with a slight forward and upward motion. The ability to manipulate the flaps provides a nice opportunity to learn about flight behavior.

My 4 year old (and Dad) had so much fun with this plane. Fly it from a hill and it will go a mile. Elmer's glue works great to repair the crashes.

5.0 out of 5 stars These things are fun for all ages!, June 25, 2005

I get a kick out of watching my kids chase these things around. I bought two of them, one for my 4 year old boy and one for my 5 year old girl. The one my girl chose did not fly, it kept nose diving to the ground and was about to return both of them until I tried my boy's out. I was amazed to see the thing fly around like it had a mind of it's own. I rushed back to the store, returned the bad one, and had my girl pick out a new one. Now we are all happy.

They planes have their own personality. My boy's plane looks like a red stealth bomber and flies around in a spiral formation about 40 feet wide. Little gusts of wind make it fly high, REALLY HIGH and REALLY FAR. My gir'l plane looks like an odd shapped jet and flies around in a more oval type formation and wave like patern. It will go straight for about 20 feet going up and down then make a wide left turn. Small gusts of wind have the same effect on her's too.

I taught both my kids how to charge them, counting to five (they count pretty slow) before gently throwing them straight, not up or down, and then watch them chase them around. Just before you think it is going to land, any little breeze will make them climb up again.

It is unpredictable how high or far it will go. You need a big grassy space with no trees around. For some reason, these things tend to go straight to the dirrection of trees no matter how far you are away from them. I had to use my cell phone a couple of times, not to call 911 but to throw my phone and knock the planes down from the trees.

YES! You might just pick the bad one the first time you buy one, just return it for a new one. You will not be disapointed. After all, what do you expect from a toy that is not tested before being sold to the public. (No quality control tag.)

This airplane rocks! When you fly it it will do lot's of tricks and flips. The only bad thing is how it can't glide and will fall if it runs out of power in midair. It is really durable because it is so small and the charger fits in your poket. Overall I give it four but not five stars because of how breakable it is. If it hits concrete it will most likely break. I recomend it highly!

The engine on this toy is great. I mean, you know it generates a decent amount of thrust.

However, this plane is an overweight glider. It doesn't have good gliding characteristics, which are important, because the engine though good cannot counteract the weight.

Basically, this thing will fly up when you throw it and dive down quickly. The engine doesn't pick up the plane and keep it in the air. Thats if it can fly straight, otherwise it banks left and crashes.

I bought this plane for my 6 year old son. We had great fun with it. However, it crashed hard and the propeller broke. We were able to find a replacement propeller for $1.25 at a hobby shop. The plane flew well, did cool tricks, (Rolls, Loops and Crashes) until my 9 year old stepped on it. Since it's made out of foam, it was a wreck. But hey, for $10.00 it was a great toy for the money.
