Pranayama is a very important practice of advanced yoga; it is not easy to teach well and thoroughly in a small book, but Yogani has done it, and still managed to make the book easy to read.
This, and 'Deep Meditation' are two short books that contain the core essentials of advanced yoga. They are a perfect introduction for the beginner, while at the same time being great review for those with more experience. Five stars again for Yogani!

Time-friendly: This practice only takes 5 to 10 minutes, and deep meditation after spinal breathing only takes 10 to 20 minutes. Simple and practical: The spinal breathing tool is made to be as simple as possible; stripped of unnecessary practices and mysticism. Comprehensive: The book includes all the basics one will need to know about the how, when, and where of spinal breathing pranayama including answers for many of the common questions that a person may have. Safe and Balanced: This is so important. The reader is taught about managing his or her practice of spinal breathing pranayama in addition to deep meditation in order to facilitate a smooth awakening process and to prevent heavy purification symptoms. A smooth process is significant because your daily life, duties, and responsibilities will not be interfered with. The simplicity of the practice in this book should not be underestimated. Actually, it is the simplicity that makes the practice quite effective and powerful.

Yogani has a gift for bringing esoteric practices to be understood by the common man. In this book of the AYP series, he presents a breathing that is so very simple. But don't let the simplicity fool you, this single practice has been responsible for catapulting my practice into hyperdrive and reach a deeper understanding of what is this state we call Yoga. As a beginner to meditation and breath work I was truly amazed at how simple the practice of spinal breathing is explained in this easy to read and easier to understand book. More importantly how wonderful the effects are. Thank you Yogani for this special gift.

I was a bit suspicious of all the 5-star reviews by "people" who apparently read only this author, but I purchased the book anyway because I enjoy breathing. It's one of the few things that all humans have in common, but the quality of our breathing varies tremendously, even in a given individual. I have no doubt that even slight changes in the quality of our breathing can have huge implications over the course of a lifetime, in terms of health, productivity, and even intellect.
This book teaches a simple method of breathing that nearly anyone can practice nearly anywhere. The author recommends doing the practice for five minutes, twice daily, but the beauty of it is that you will probably grow more attuned to your breathing and will want to breathe more deeply and efficiently even when not doing full-on spinal breathing. Incidentally, you do not need to know how to meditate or do yoga to enjoy spinal breathing. I also found the book well written and edited, with sufficient detail but no longer than it needs to be.

Yogani's books have always been of exceptional standards and this one is no exception in being exceptional :)
Spinal breathing and Deep meditation are two core practices that can play a major role in human spiritual development. The first half of book talks about spinal breathing technique in detail concentrating on the practical aspects of it, where to take it easy, what steps are more important etc... It also lists out pranayama or spinal breathing practices in other systems and gives the reader a great overview on the history of the practice. The clearing of myths like "the longer you hold breath the better (a myth)" is very helpful to the practitioner. The second half especially is a treat to read where the various secrets of the inner journey are revealed. The interesting experiences that can happen along the path and the wonderful explanations on inner silence and ecstasy are a joy to read. These experiences are things that I have always longed to hear from great sages but wasnt able to. Thanks to Yogani for describing those advanced experiences so clearly. I recommend this book to everyone who is serious about making progress on spiritual path. The deep meditation book and Advanced Yoga Practices book by the same author make great additions to it.

Yoganis book "Spinal Breathing" is a treasure. In a simple, clear and accurate way this little volume gives you a priceless tool on your spiritual path. Yogani has a way of making otherwise complicated spiritual material into easy digestible nutrition. You invest 5 min of your time twice daily (preferably followed by meditation) - in return you gradually open up to a vast inner space that imprints your life with deep inner peace and love. The practise of Yoganis spinal breathing Pranayama is easy to do; the results are profound; and together with Yoganis other volume "Deep Meditation" you have all you need on your path to inner freedom.

Spinal breathing pranayam is a tool that can be used in our every day life for relaxation, good health and for spiritual progress. It is one of the most powerful tools you can find to enhance your spiritual journey. In conjunction with deep meditation it will take you places you could not have even imagined. This book is as simple and as powerful as the pranayam itself. It is amazing how much information Yogani has packed into 100 pages of easy to read and easy to follow instructions.

Yogani has managed to explain one of the most powerful and dynamic practices of yoga in an extraordinarily accessible, practical, and entertaining way. This book is beautifully to the point and geared less towards theory and more towards results. It is equally as valuable to the long term yoga practicioner as it is to the beginner. Having read quite a few books on yoga, I've yet to come across anyone who offers such clear and precise instruction on these profound spiritual practices. Yogani really has a gift for this.
I'd recommend this book to anyone who is serious about the spiritual life. I have no hesitation in saying that this is the most "bang for your buck" you will get in terms of practical yoga instruction. |
