5.0 out of 5 stars Surprised me! It's great!
I ordered this bike after a great deal of research and juggling with the idea of price...too high...too low...which bike is better and why? I spin at the gym and absolutely love the Keiser Spin bike there, but it's just too much money for my home budget, and I REALLY wanted to spin at home. This bike is sturdy, smooth, and delivers a strong ride. I was completely...

3.0 out of 5 stars Spin Enthusiast Switching Gears, April 29, 2009

I am an inveterate spinner and mostly do it at Crunch Fitness at least 2 days per week. Work has made this less than possible so I opted to try a spin bike at home. I wanted a commercial grade one but found the the cost was something that I could not justify. This led me to hunting for something that would do the job without raising eyebrows. For what it is this is an excellent bike. It is amazingly stable and sturdy. My criticisms are simple: The handle bars wiggle. This sucks. I imagine I can find a simple solution to this but it irritates me. The pedals are not spin shoe ready. If you know what a spin shoe is you know my problem. If you do not you are in a blissful state that I envy. I will be buying spin shoe ready pedals today. The sturdiness of the thing and the fat seat are excellent selling points. It is also quiet. Although heavy at 90 lbs it is easy to move due to little wheels on the front of the unit. I tend to look out the window when I spin but my Esposa Caliente likes to watch the tube...so we move it around. This is definitely a bargain bike and if you need the very best pay the $1200. If you want to sweat buckets, lose fat, make your heart strong...and save a few bones...this bike would work.

I was completely surprised! I was concerned about flywheel weight (this one has a 31 pound vs. the 42 pound average in the more expensive bikes), but I actually think that this is a bonus now. My hips used to hurt when I was spinning 3 and 4 times a week at the gym, and I think the lighter flywheel is better for me. When I bought this here at Amazon, I had it already in my mind, before taking it out of the box, that I would be prepared to return it, but it's terrific! It delivers the exact workout that I want, and it's built really well. I would suggest it to anyone looking for the spinning workout at home, and I believe that it's a good buy for its price range. The DVDs are awesome too; just like class! And you can't go wrong with a company like StarTrac, who manufactures this bike. Have fun and buy with confidence. It's a great choice. :-)

2.0 out of 5 stars Not a good bike for taller people, November 17, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Spinner® Sport Spin Bike with 4 Spinning DVDs (Sports)
I ordered this bike based on the cost and the reviews. There are some features of the bike that I like - it was very easy to assemble, however, this is not a bike for taller people. I am 5'10" and have been spinning in the gym for years. I moved to a different location and was not able to find a class that fit my schedule here locally, so decided to purchase this bike so I could spin on my own schedule. The handle bars do not go high enough for me and I am way to hunched over compared to how I sit on spinners in the gym. I called the customer service [...] and asked if they had a taller handlebar assembly that I could purchase and they do not. They were not very helpful in offering any solutions and I had to contact them several times to get a reply. I am not too happy with the resistance knob and the touchiness of it as well....it goes from very easy to very hard with minute turns. So if you are a shorter person, this bike would be fine and is a good price, but if you are taller and used to quality bikes found in the gym, you will probably be disappointed with this bike. I am not to thrilled with the videos that come with the unit either, but I have ordered some Mindy Mylrea DVD's and do like her spinning CD's. They are longer than the ones that come with this bike. I would have sent it back and purchased something else, but my husband tore up the box when we were assembling it, bless his heart. :) A spinning bike is something you will use frequently and for a long time and you want it to be something you enjoy.....this is not the one to buy in my opinion if you are tall.

5.0 out of 5 stars A lot of quality for a little cash, February 10, 2010

I was no longer able to attend Spinning classes at my local gym, so I decided to take the plunge and purchase a bike to use at home. This bike is terrific quality -- I honestly can't tell a difference in the quality of the ride from a commercial model, and it's just as sturdy. If anyone is wondering if it's a good buy -- YES! This is one of the best exercise equipment purchases I have made over the past 20 years (compared to a treadmill, eliptical, x-c ski machine) and probably one of the least expensive. This is built to last, and to be used.

5.0 out of 5 stars SPIN BIKE SPORT, June 16, 2010

I love SPINNING products. This is definitely a beginners bike. I have been spinning for five years now and didn't realize I would notice a difference. However, there is a different feel to the ride. If you have shoes with clips this bike comes with the standard pedal. Which is completely different if you are used to the shoes with clips. I don't care for the dvds as it distracts my concentration. The spinning book that comes with the bike provides you with basics and you can come up with your own rides and music, which I prefer. The amount on the flywheel is enough unless you are a professional racer who is concerned with overcoming all the resistance, don't worry about getting the heaviest amount of weight on your flywheel. The bike takes up a small amount of space and is easily moved around because of the wheels on the front. The water bottle cage is cheap and bendable but holds the water bottle. It serves its purpose for now. The seat is big and wide compared to the smaller size I am used too. The difference is noticeable. Like I said this is a beginners bike. If you love spinning and want a bike customized to your spinning preferences, I suggest you buy a better model due to what I mentioned above. Soon I have to spend more money to buy a different seat, SPD pedals, maybe a new water bottle cage. Hope this helps so you find what you are looking for when making this purchase decision :)

3.0 out of 5 stars Good bike, February 9, 2010
This review is from: Spinner® Sport Spin Bike with 4 Spinning DVDs (Sports)
I purchased this bike and used it 3 times a week with solid results. The DVD's that come with are great. I bought it in Fall 2008 and only had to change the resistance pad out once. One issue I have recently had is that the shaft that connects the pedal to the frame broke while I was using the bike. I'm guessing due to constant use. For $400 I guess you get what you pay for. I am having a hard time finding a replacement part for this part as the Spinner site doesn't even carry the part and I don't know if I'm going to be able to fix this. So, my advice is that if you expect heavy use with this, go in knowing that this product may last only a few years. Otherwise, it's a solid entry level purchase. Knowing that I will use a spinner bike constantly, I will probably purchase a more expensive durable bike.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love my new bike, May 21, 2010

Thanks to so many kind people who reviewed this bike and gave it a good review. I purchased the bike and just love it. It only has one flaw (which I was aware of because of the reviews)--the handle bars do wiggle a bit. I am going to try to put some foamrubber around the bar and see if that helps. Overall, an A+. I am training for a triathlon and am very please.

The bike was shipped right away. I was able to put it together within minutes and was using it right away. I have had spinning experience at a local fitness club and am comfortable saying that I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of this bike. I am so glad I made this purchase. I have not used the DVDs that came with it yet as I have my own music I listen to. Truly the only "complaint" is that I cannot open the water bottle that came with this purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exceeded all of my expectations!, July 31, 2010

This review is from: Spinner® Sport Spin Bike with 4 Spinning DVDs (Sports)
I was very hesitant to purchase a spin bike without trying it out - you never what you're getting on-line! However, I researched many bikes and decided on this model, based on the reviews and the price. Also, this is the same brand that I rode at my gym, so I was familiar with it. I wanted a gym quality bike, and that's exactly what this is - I absolutely love it. It is sturdy and was SO easy to put together. It comes almost fully assembled. For the money, I'm not sure how you could do any better. And, the seat is amazingly comfortable. I am thrilled my purchase. For the record, I am avid spinner and workout every day, so I am experienced and know a good piece of equipment when I see it! Would highly recommend this purchase. Also, my bike was delivered three days from my purchase - awesome!

4.0 out of 5 stars well priced spin bike, September 11, 2009
This review is from: Spinner® Sport Spin Bike with 4 Spinning DVDs (Sports)
I bought my spin bike for an exercise option to running. My knees are fine but I'm no kid anymore. Plus, I live in the northeast and the weather is a challenge here. The delivery was great! The delivery man even carried it into my house. Set up was simple and the only needed tool was provided. I would recommend watching the set up DVD tutorial first, it will save you some time. The bike is great, very well built and extremely stable. My only complaint is that it is not very smooth when standing to ride. This may be an adjustment issue and not a huge deal anyways. The DVDs are a bit cutesy but really very instructional once you get past the "motivational" speeches.
In short, a great bike, a great price and I would buy it again.
