Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

Grade 6 Up?Twenty-three demonstrations and experiments illustrating Newtonian laws of force and motion, based on exhibits at a hands-on science museum in San Francisco. The projects are easy to assemble. Some materials may be ordered from the Exploratorium, but directions for using substitutes are given. Each experiment, called a snack, includes a list of materials, instructions, things to do and notice, and an explanation of "What's Going On?" In some cases there are directions for assembling apparatus of two different sizes, appropriately called large and small snacks. All the projects are fun and can be used for recreation as well as in the classroom. Pen-and-ink drawings and black-and-white photographs are especially helpful in clarifying the procedures. An innovative and creative collection.?Margaret M. Hagel, Norfolk Public Library System, VA

5.0 out of 5 stars Exploratorium books rock!, February 12, 2007
This review is from: The Spinning Blackboard and Other Dynamic Experiments on Force and Motion (The Exploratorium Science Snackbook Series) (Paperback)
I would recommend any of the Exploratorium books. They have very "do-able" activities that can be dramatic and make their point clearly. This one has some repeats of other Exploratorium books, as well as new ideas. I work with elementary science students (from pre-K to 5th grade) and these books are jewels in my planning, especially for my middle elementary kids.
