This man is somewhat like Neil Young, everytime you hear a new recording brings a surprise,a change of direction, a new emphasis, a new sound, a new feel. You never know what is coming next apart from the fact that it will be of the highest quality. He is sixty six years old ! (1999) yet still able to produce variations and breathe new life into the Blues which seems to be as old as the hills yet as fresh as a new dawn when interpeted by a genius such as John. Familiar themes and riffs appear from the past, bringing back memories, and yet seem somehow revitalised and invigorated by his approach and devotion to one of the root forms of all popular music.

Everything about this CD is well done. Excellent writing and performances. Mayall is in top form and has a highly talented band around him. What more can one say - I love this CD.

John Mayall could turn country, classical, even alternative listeners into blues fans if they aren't already! "Ain't No Breakman..." takes all the life you've lived and puts it to music the way you've always seen it in your memories.
