5.0 out of 5 stars Not Just For Children
When this book first came out I read it as a classroom resource. I noticed that the class was more calm after the exercises, and when I talk to some of them, now 10+ years later, they still remember some of the images. It's excellent for all ages. It says "Children" on the cover, which would tend to turn adults off, but it's excellent. I still use it today

Not as good as I expected thought there would be more stories to read for my yoga class during savasana

A very inspiring book, very accessible, and easy to grasp ideas (... for parents, teachers as well as the kids). I like that you can easily choose a meditation according to the age group, and also read about childrens experiences after having done the meditation.
Anyone interested in teaching children something they can carry with them for life should read this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth remembering, June 24, 2005
This review is from: Spinning Inward: Using Guided Imagery with Children for Learning, Creativity & Relaxation (Paperback)
When I was in grade school we did the spinning exercizes in this book. They had such a profound influence on me I bought the book myself almost 20 years later. Now I am using them to help my 6 yr old daughter.

This book is listed in the resource section of all our training manuals. It is a perfect fit for children's Yoga. The exercises are simple and creative. Children love to spend time drawing afterwards and discussing their experiences. When someone asks me to recommend just one book to use as a resource for teaching children wellness through awareness, I tell them this is it!

Working with children and adolescents, I have found this an excellent resource for introducing guided imagery into therapy. Generally, kids ranging from elementary to high school really enjoy the exercises. I do find myself using a few of the exercises more often than others. I especially like one exercise titled "The Ally Within." I feel like this is a simple and easy to use book for working with children and adolescents. I've even used this text in a training with middle school teachers. Great resource, very useful!
