an amazingly gorgeous collection,

This review is from: Spinning World: 13 Ways of Looking at a Waltz (Audio CD)
This is, to put it simply, one of the most beautiful records I have ever listened to. Genuine beauty is a pretty rare quality in modern music, and this has it by the barrel. It is also complex and original enough to be highly engrossing, though "old fashioned" in tone. The different waltzes are so evocative and so varied that you could practically score a whole film with them. This album stands outside of almost every recognized category of style or taste... and rather than making it an obscure niche work, instead this makes it universal. Just about anyone will find something to like about it.

Wonderful moving (123) music,

Gunnar builds on the excellent composition work he did for the Bobs, creating a thing of beauty that will delight anyone who enjoys thoughtful complex music that breaks out of the "baby-baby-baby" mold of popular music. This work is a nice synthesis of jazz and modern classical music that I have enjoyed listening to over and over again. I heartily recommend it!

Captivating music for even non-waltz lovers,

This is the music you'll play on sunny Sunday mornings, and quiet rainy afternoons, and sitting by the fire at night. It's lovely & lyrical & interesting. Everyone I've played this for, from kids to mothers-in-law, has loved it. You can't go wrong with this one.

Amazing instrumental compostion from a master of a cappella,

Having been a fan of Gunnar Madsen for many years due to his work with the a cappella group The Bobs, I was still a little leary try this all-instrumental collection of waltzes. I must admit that I was more than pleasantly surprised to discover that Gunnar brought his quirky fun from the Bobs into the world of classical music. Each of the Waltzes has a distinct flavor and personality, and is a far cry from what the average person thinks of when they hear the word waltz. Mr. Madsen is constantly full of surprises.

ANNA is the best piece in the album,

I have been looking for this piece of music that was played in one of the Sex and the city episodes, and after long tme of searching I've finally found it. Gunnar's music is so exquisite and elegant that you'd always remember it even if you just hear it once. And that was why I never stopped searching for "Anna", even though I didn't know the name of the music and the talented artist who made it. However, I find that Anna is the only song worth listening to on this album, a bit disappointed..

Like many others, I discovered this CD because of Sex in the City and LOVE it. If "Anna" is the song that appeals to you, you'll be absolutely swept away by Regina Carter's Paganini, which is exquisite and was also played on the show.

Looks like a good bit of people bought this for the same reason. Anna from the end episode "La Douleur Exquise!" of season 2 of Sex and the City. Aparently other songs from teh CD were in the show too.
I had to do a good bit of googling before I finally found out the song and artist. Listening to the whole song is no disappointment... ...however the other CDs advertized by this artest seem inordinanly different... I heard somewhere that this song was made because it did a better job of representing what the artists grandmother would have liked (who gave him everything she owned when she passed away simply because she loved the fact that he wanted to study music)... Anyhow, the end result was a very good song.

Like a lot of other people, my intention in purchasing this album was to hear the 'Anna' track that I had heard and fallen for on a particular Sex and the City episode. Turns out the rest of the tracks are just as magnificent. I'd highly recommend this to anyone seeking some truly touching and pleasant sounds.

I first heard Gunnar Madsen on Sex and the City. I couldn't figure out what song it was, but I would play it over and over with Carrie's voice over and everything. Then I figured out it was "Anna" and a moment later bought this CD. It is better than I expected, only having heard "Anna." I play this CD all the time. It is perfect for when I'm reading, driving, cooking, doing anything. It's fabulous!
