Not Ready for Prime Time,
Google the Vehicle Safeguard and you will find a video or two that demonstrates the rather excellent quality of the image produced by the camera (for such a light, small device). Unfortunately, that's the only good news there is to report. On my unit, the laser was not centered as described in print, instead was way off, near (but not exactly) the upper right corner. With a unit this small, just twisting the device a fraction of an inch to guess where center-frame really is, will make the center of the frame off by a foot or more. I returned mine only to have it replaced with another which possessed the exact same defect. Even if you try to compensate for this by knowing the laser shows the upper right of the frame, the laser is invisible in daylight, so you have to try to set it up at night, when the high lux requirement of the lens makes the camera itself useless: you ride in blackness except for oncoming headlights. For battery operation you will go through three triple A batteries every four or so hours of driving. The vehicle power option (included with the unit) has a less than thought-out design, making it not only blatantly obtrusive as it connects to the top of the unit, but impractical as well. Since many vehicles have a sloped windshield, trying to get the camera close to the windshield becomes geometrically impossible. It also appears you are tailgating when you are not. One of the online videos I saw shows a car following another as it commits that violation. When I played my own recording I appeared to be doing the same tailgating--when I clearly was not. It took a 2 gig card just fine, but the loop that begins the cycle over has a delay of roughly five or six seconds. Wouldn't it be a kick if that's when an accident occurred? And why not have it turn on automatically with vehicle power so you don't forget? Applause for attempting an inexpensive device with good intentions but for constantly providing an accurate record of what occurs just beyond my windshield I will wait for version 2.0. (My purchase was not from this seller and therefore reflects only the device.)

Protection against cop tickets and vehicle accidents,
This review is from: Spion Vehicle Safeguard Car Video Recording Camera
I was in an accident when a driver cut me off. She side swiped my vehicle and tried to lie, claiming I put a dent on her vehicle. I told the police what happened, received an accident report and sued her in small claims after her insurance didn't want to pay. I won my case because her insurance company didn't know I had the accident recorded on my "Vehicle safeguard video recording camera." Her insurance assigned attorney was in shock. And couldn't contest the video.
Anybody who reads this, do yourself a favor and by this inexpensive device. It will save you money and a headache in the long run trying to get your vehicle repaired and it's provides proof for any lawsuit

marginal at best, obnoxious to use, not the best price,

This is the exact same camera that other sellers on Amazon are selling for as little as $60
Here's the review I gave it, regardless of vendor: I've been quite unhappy with this unit. The "manual" that came with it is written in the worst Chinese-mangled English I've ever seen. It's useless. The button functions do not match what's in the manual. I finally figured out, by trial and error, how to make it record. You press and hold the bottom button for several seconds to get the blue LED to come on, then press and hold the top button for several seconds to get the blue LED to start blinking, indicating it's recording. It also has problems stopping the recording. Again, strictly by trial and error, I've figured out that to make it stop recording, you press and hold the bottom button. The blue LED stops blinking. But then it often resumes blinking. Even shutting off the power switch does not cause it to stop blinking. I have to remove the power cord to get it to stop blinking. The vendor has ignored my several voice mails and filling out their "support" forms, asking for help in making this thing work. Other than the hugely obnoxious and inconvenient method of getting it to start and stop recording, it's not too bad. The videos it produces are small, but OK. It's useless after dark, but during the day, it's ok. It lacks any time/date stamping, either on the video or on the files that get created.
