5.0 out of 5 stars If you're on your feet a lot, BUY THESE SHOES.
More to come on this review, but suffice it to say that I am about to purchase my third pair of Spira Classic shoes. I went through Nike, Asics and K-Swiss until I struck the perfect balance with Spira.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed in this shoe
My expectations were high and I was excited to receive my Spira's as I now walk 2 miles to work. My expectations were high and I was excited to receive my Spira's as I now walk 2 miles to work. However, I quickly realized that while this shoe may be good for some people, they are not good for my feet. I am a supinator (wear down the outside edges of my shoes) and I have a very high arch. I find the heals of these shoes particulary hard--almost like you can feel the metal spring inside the heal. I ended up inserting an extra gel sole inside each shoe, which has helped. Overall, a big disappointment, especially given the price.

More to come on this review, but suffice it to say that I am about to purchase my third pair of Spira Classic shoes. I went through Nike, Asics and K-Swiss until I struck the perfect balance with Spira.

I'm a med/surg nurse on an extremely busy unit in a large hospital. These shoes helped greatly to relieve my plantar fasciitis, knee pain and other lower extremity discomfort from being on my feet for 12-14 hours a day. The shoes are extremely lightweight, the springs provide excellent support and energy return. The soles are slip-resistant, but as with any work environment, care should always be taken around wet floors, no matter the 'slip resistant' claim. Still, I feel confident and comfortable in these shoes and would have no other pair for my profession. I recommend them to all my nurse colleagues!

Addendum: for more detailed description on the construction of the Spira shoe and their "Wavespring" technology, see their website - http://www.spirafootwear.com

1.0 out of 5 stars BAD CUSTOMER SERVIC, February 24, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I purchased this shoe for my wife. It was her second pair. The first pair was fine and she liked them, so we bought the second pair. This pair wore out in five weeks. The lining in the heel broke down. As it was too late to return them to Amazon, I contacted the manufacturer. When I discussed the problem with customer service, she told me there was no problem with the shoe, the problem was that the shoe didn't fit right. I asked to speak to someone higher up and she connected me to the head of the returns depatment. When I described the problem to him, he also immediately told me it was a problem with the fit. I asked him why we would have a problem with this pair and not with the first pair. He responed thats a good question. I don't know about you, but I'v never had a problem like this, and I'v had hundreds of shoes in my life. From the way they acted it appeared to be a common problem. They were very quick to say it was a problem wiyh the fit. I think they have seen it a lot. Anyway he told he he couldn't help, but he would talk to the head of the on-line store, who was off that day, and she would return my call. They never did return my call.
Very poor customer service and they do not stand behind their product. I will not buy from them again, $135.00 of a pair of shoes and they won't retun a call when theres a problem

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally!, February 6, 2010

I have duck feet. There's no other description for them. Narrow at the heel, wide at the front, and flat arches...flat as a duck's! Then there's the bunion on one foot and the sensitive neuropathy in the other foot. Needless to say, I have had GREAT difficulty finding shoes. Especially since I have fibromyalgia and arthritis and work on concrete floors. Well, the shoe salesman at Foot Solutions said to me, "I wish you could have seen your face when I put this shoe on you!" It was an immediate love affair! These shoes are the ULTIMATE in "cooshiness". Finally, I don't feel like my joints are pounding on the pavement!

These shoes encase your foot in smooth, cooshy, LOVELY comfort! If you have been having hurting feet and/or joints, TRY THESE!!! You don't feel the "springs" as such. You just feel that you are walking on very supportive springiness. Kind of like the best mattress you have ever lain on...you don't feel the springs, you just feel wonderful support everywhere! The foot bed can come out to allow your own orthotics. The toe box is very deep allowing you to wear thick cooshy socks with them or thin...your choice! AND they don't have the typical "industrial strength orthotic" look. They look very neat and trim on the foot. I think my feet actually look smaller in them...for duck feet!

By the way, did I say I L-O-V-E these shoes?! If Amazon allowed me to give them a ten, I would! They should get the shoe equivalent of an olympic gold medal!

5.0 out of 5 stars BEST SHOES EVER, December 13, 2009

bren "bren" (birmingham, al usa) - See all my reviews
I own a pair of black. I work on concrete floors 10 hours a day in a restaurant environment and from day #1 my knees, ankles and feet quit hurting. I had work Dansko before. The Dansko caused hard callus on my feet. Within 6 weeks of wear the Spiras everyday, I woke up, showered and every bit of the old callus just got wiped away. Talk about a relief. The springs I noticed for the first couple of weeks. Now I dont feel them at all. When I put on a regular pair of tennis shoes it feels like I am walking barefooted and I cn feel every pebble on the ground. No longer will I buy anything but the Spira, not only for comfort but the wear on my ankles, knees and legs is non-existent now. I have womens 7 wides....swc202W. I typically wear a 7 but sometimes the toe portion isn't wide enough and this shoes is just perfect in a wide. Happy shoe owner here!

5.0 out of 5 stars Working in the O.R., February 2, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
We who work in the operating room are always on the look out for new shoes! We want shoes that let us not "feel" the floor when we walk--shoes to cushion our feet, knees and legs. These shoes deliver! Although 14 hours on these floors in any shoe is tiring, I have to say the Spira are the best yet! Would hightly recommend them to anyone working in the operating room!

5.0 out of 5 stars Relief!!!, August 15, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
These shoes are by far the most comfortable I have EVER worn. As soon as I walked in my white shoes I ordered a pair in black. The discount from FootSmart was a bonus! Having just gotten over plantar fascitis, I wear these whenever possibe. My feet don't tire nearly as quickly. Well worth the $.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great spring for walking and exercising, January 1, 2009
I bought two pairs. One for my mother and one for myself. I actually can't believe how good they feel. The spring coils actually work - I can walk and workout for longer periods of time without my feet hurting. I highly recommend.
