Washington, Jefferson, Adams, Rush, Franklin, Hamilton: they're all here and more. Learn what they thought about one another. Find out how they really felt about freedom of religion, the right to bear arms, free speech, slavery, and political institutions. Gain respect and appreciation for the original values on which America was founded.

Bennett often interjects his editorial among the original documents. Sometimes this is helpful, sometimes not.

You should know this book has a conservative tone. It is for historians to decide whether this tone is Bennett's bias or the founders' attitudes.

If you want to understand for yourself why America was framed as it was, get it from the horses' mouths.

Have not read this clear through. When I am sick to death with the machinations of our current "professional" politicians I just pick it up and renew my faith in what our founding fathers created. This country was blessed with men of real character and courage. The wrtings of Washington, Jefferson, Adams, Franklin, et al shine like a lantern in the dark. Bennett has done a remarkable job of compiling & editing.

With so many books, for people to read. This book is a must for every american that wants to know the truth about our beloved country. If you want the facts and nothing but the facts, purchase this book it will reopen your eyes to the colorful history of the founding fathers and believe it or not the founding fathers were christians see just how much God was in their every day lives.
