deep look at police officers,
This review is from: Spirit of the Badge: 60 True Police Stories of Divine Guidance, Miracles & Intuition (Perfect Paperback)
These sixty short contributions from various types of Michigan law enforcement officials are not just inspirational, which they are. The entries provide a deep look at what goes through the minds of police officers as they risk their lives. The compilation is further divided into a variety of topics to include: angels and apparitions; dreams and intuition; healing with humor, signs, symbols, and synchronicity; lessons of the heart; and unexplainable phenomena. However, that is irrelevant as the audience will appreciate each true life short story as they all are well written and seem to come from the heart and soul of the police officer. This is a strong engaging collection whether it is the sergeant looking back at his late mom's vision of his uniform, the bird pecking at a McDonald's bag that has the bomb squad fearing an explosion, the officer finding the teenage suicide victim before the wild animals run off with the corpse and take away parental closure, herding a drunken bear, or the premonition not to peak through the last window. Aptly titled, an appreciative audience will agree that Ingrid P Dean and her contributors figuratively and literally live up to the SPIRIT OF THE BADGE.

Read this book!,

I am reading this book and loving it. I enjoy how the author put it together. Some of the stories give me chills, some make me cry for the policemen/women and for the victims. It is truly an important message Ms. Dean is bringing to the world. One that we do not get from the media. When I heard all the reportage about the Cambridge, MA policeman and the Harvard Prof, I kept wishing that this book could be held side by side with all that was being discussed. There is definitely a need for the whole story to come to consciousness. As humans we are in relationship with each other to learn from the dramas we create together. In writing this book, Ms Dean is opening a new understanding of all the dimensions of police work and the many levels of awareness police officers bring to the sometimes dangerous, sometimes tragic, sometimes artful and scientific and sometimes boring work they must do. This book is an important gift to the world.

I enjoyed this book very much. The stories are believable and told without over dramatization. Made me appreciate ( even more ) the special persons it takes to do the job of protecting us. I'd recommend this book to anyone but especially to those that see officers as unfeeling or without sensitivity. This will change their minds.

Cops are a hard-boiled, no-nonsense lot, the kind that never believe anything they can't see, right? Well, believe it or not, police officers have had as many encounters with strange phenomenon as anyone else, perhaps more. In this interesting book, author and veteran police detective Ingrid P. Dean tells 60 strange and unusual police stories, stories that you may never see on CSI.
Overall, I found this to be an interesting read. The author did a very good job of collecting a wide-ranging group of stories that talk about all sorts of phenomenon encountered by real police officers. Check it out!

I had the immeasuable pleasure of meeting the author last night and hearing her tell some of the stories from the book. I wasn't sure what to expect when I signed up for the presentation. I was immediately blown away by this warm, authentic woman who followed the signs and followed her passion. I can hardly wait for her to complete another book. I envision these books taking on a life of their own and I will remember with pride that I was there at the beginning.
No matter who you are or what you believe; no matter what preconceived notions you may have about people in law enforcement, you need to read this book. It will inspire and delight and make the little hairs on the back of your neck stand at attention. Thank you, Ingrid Dean

They have been called professional heroes. "Spirit of the Badge: 60 True Police Stories of Divine Guidance, Miracles, & Intuition" is a collection of true stories and anecdotes about officers on the beat and the challenges they face in their days on the job. With a spiritual slant, it presents these officers as what they really are - human beings who are just trying to get through the day. "Spirit of the Badge" is worth considering for any who want to better understand the life of a police officer.

True Kaleidoscope,
This review is from: Spirit of the Badge: 60 True Police Stories of Divine Guidance, Miracles & Intuition (Perfect Paperback)
"Spirit of the Badge" is an undistorted kaleidoscope of the police officer's true thoughts, events, and emotions associated with law enforcement. If one is looking for 1-Adam-12, Kojack, Andy Griffin, Hawaii-5-0, Barnaby Jones, or Charlie's Angels, they're looking in the wrong direction. This book is truly a heartfelt piece of literature that portrays the officer's everyday life--the good, the bad, the ugly, the beautiful, the tragic, the mundane, and sometimes hilarious experience of the "anything but" normal routine.
"Spirit of the Badge" also touches upon the everyday miracles that most officers do not take for granted. So many have come within a breath of great loss, which gives them a very unique perspective of what a "divine miracle" really is--no matter how big or small. Ms. Dean, it has been a privilege to have glimpsed the depths of our unsung heroes. In the spirit of service and protection, hats off to you!

What a great book.....,
By Thomas Brosman III (Olympia, Washington) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Spirit of the Badge: 60 True Police Stories of Divine Guidance, Miracles, & Intuition (Kindle Edition)
This book is the compilation of experiences of police officers about cases where they were helped by the unseen and unexplained.
It is a great read and gives you insight into the lives of cops. In particular, this book is rare because all police work is based on the explained and the documented. This book, is about police officers being aided and protected by the spirit world. In a nation studded by church steeples, this shouldn't be that much of a stretch, but in police work, it very much is. You will love the book. Tom Brosman

Geroge Noory Coast-To-Coast Interview,
This review is from: Spirit of the Badge: 60 True Police Stories of Divine Guidance, Miracles & Intuition (Perfect Paperback)
I ordered this book after hearing the interview on talk radio, the Geroge Noory Show. After listening to the live interview I had to buy and read this book. I have many favorite stories from this publication. Cops are a different breed of citizen, always on the look out, trained to follow their instincts and not beleiving everything they hear or see. These are true stories submitted from the heart of well rounded, experienced and sworn law enforcement officers. A must read for anyone interested in this line of work. Way to Go Ingrid. All you need to do now is get your pilots license.
