The book, The Spirit Beside Me, was published in October 2001 in an effort to help others understand the world of mental retardation through the eyes of a sibling. Included with the book is an original song on CD about brothers and sisters dreaming big dreams "Broomstick Ponies - The Invisible String", lyrics by Sally N. Crowe, vocal by Patty Jones, music by Don Coyer.
All proceeds from the sale of this book will be used to benefit developmentally challenged individuals who, like the author's late brother, do the best they can just to live.
