If this book don't beat all!! It's gol darned funny! I highly recommend reading it with a southern twang. Adorable illustrations and a story that will keep the kiddies wanting you to read it over and over again!

1.0 out of 5 stars goldarned, dadblamed, I'm confused with this one
I enjoy reading just about anything to my kids, but this one, even read with a Texan twang, just irritated me. First, there's two adopted kids with no other explanation other than they had a mom and Santa never visited even though their mom promised he would. Then, the girl's name is Deputy Sheriff Bessie. I don't get that. Then, it's about Santa Claus only they call him,...

Then, it's about Santa Claus only they call him, Sandy Claus. More confusion. And a dog and a cat, only I think the dog is an armadillo. Then, the language, "I won't come down the dadblamed chimney!" Then the kids make a plan to sneak out of their beds to see Sandy Claus. I don't want my six year old hearing this plan! Then, Sandy Claus actually does come and talks the father and mother into leaving their kids at home, ("afore the kiddies wake up") and delivering the rest of the presents to neighbor kids. Meanwhile, the kids are watching the whole ordeal from their bedroom door. Then Sandy Claus leaves presents and flies away with the family's cat and armadillo in his sleigh. What's with that I don't know. Then, the parents wake up the kids and say, Bundle up warm, we're going to help Sandy Claus deliver gifts. The cat and armadillo are back in the picture. This book was not for me.
