A very good gospelized jazz record, dynamic playing and sound. A digital recording, though not indicated. Chestnut remains one of the few current jazz pianists capable of the expressive solo on piano, and able to produce a singing tone at times.

Who needs lyrics? Cyrus does a great job as a jazz pianist covering traditional gospel tunes.

"Wade in the Water" is worth the entire cost of the CD, Spirit-filled indeed! Although many tunes are familiar to the eye, Chestnut creates a fresh presentation.
