5.0 out of 5 stars fantastic, June 1, 2004

Incredibly beautiful and haunting pop music from this Canadian band. A lot of groups try the whole "post-rock" or "shoegazer" or "dream pop" style thing, but A Northern Chorus pull it off magnificently with songs that range from hypnotic to acoustic to fragile to stirring. A lot of variety here and it works really well, even over its hour-long length

4.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Atmospheric Second Album, January 30, 2004

I had never heard of this band until a couple of months ago and I have to say I am obsessed.

The album contains many slow building tracks, they keep you hanging and then suddenly all the splendor of the instruments and the vocals bursts in to an absolute spine chilling experience. Haunting at times you get a real sense of thought and commitment being put into this album.

They play live during February, I'll be there in London, guaranteed. This music is made for a live audience, who if we could would be toking a big one!

Let the Parrot Speak for Themselves, this is exactly what this band does. My review now seems slightly redundant.

5.0 out of 5 stars Equally appealing for fans of shoegazing and postrock, October 6, 2008
This review is from: Spirit Flags (Audio CD)
I only discovered A Northern Chorus in 2008 and when I did, I started going back until I ran into this gem of an album. The Canadian quintet combines gorgeous vocals with natural guitar work that never gets too caught up in itself for the sake of showing off virtuosity.

Walking a fine line that is a safe distance from pop, equally appealing for fans of shoegazing and postrock alike, A Northern Chorus will lighten up your day while it leaves you thinking... "What was that I was just listening to?"
