5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Book - Entertaining, Inspiring, and Educational
David Baker's journey has been one of amazing interactions with the spirit world. If you've ever had a psychic experience or a brush with the 'other side' this work will inform, educate, validate, as well as entertain you. And if you haven't encountered spirit yet, but simply want to learn more, you'll be taken by the hand and guided in between the human and the spirit...

1.0 out of 5 stars a tough read
Speaking as someone who is really fascinated by this subject matter, I can honestly say this book did not deliver. The flow of the author's language was tough to follow. It felt very amateur-ish and was disappointing, especially for the price. I unfortunately cannot recommend it.

David Baker's journey has been one of amazing interactions with the spirit world. And if you haven't encountered spirit yet, but simply want to learn more, you'll be taken by the hand and guided in between the human and the spirit world in this wonderful book that reads like a fiction novel but is much better because it is all true. Simply reading this book will help you understand the journey of awakening that occurs as one learns to trust their intuitions and experiences. You will be inspired to develop your own gifts and talents and share them with the world for the betterment of your own life and the lives of others. Thank you David for the courage to share your journey with the world.

5.0 out of 5 stars a peek in the life of a medium, February 22, 2008

This review is from: The Spirit Garden: A Medium's Journey (Paperback)
It is more important for me, as I progress on my own spiritual journey, to learn about not only the amazing things that intuitive (mediums)people can do-but the not as amazing experiences as well. If one is psychic (we all are to a degree), then one is all day every day! What is life like for a medium, day in and day out? How did he (or she) discover that he was actually-psychic? As a child? In adulthood? I enjoyed reading and learning about the life of a medium reading Mr. Baker's book and it is obvious by his story that he 'walks his talk', and he has experienced life in all its fullness; the ups and downs. I find I learn more by hearing the whole story, and David Baker put his heart along with his wisdom in this book. He includes lots of info in the back which is very helpful for further reading, etc.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating look into the life of a medium., May 20, 2007
Great book, easy to read. The author describes transitions in his life, growing up with psychic abilities and how he uses this gift to help others. In his book David Baker defines what psychic gifts are so that the reader may understand and follow the story of his personal journey becoming a medium. I highly recommend this book. Reading this book may help one to discover what their own psychic gifts are.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Spirit Garden, A Medium's Journey: is a wonderful new and inspiring book., May 14, 2007

Once I started this book, I could not put it down. It is smooth sailing and I wanted more at the end. This book is dynamic and filled with true life experiences. Even though, as a child, David did not understand what these gifts were, he was aware of certain feelings and visions of angels and ghosts. It was as he grew older and was on his own that he truely began his journey to discover what these experiences meant. David openly discusses his childhood and life. He reflects back to realize he always had these abilities. On his journey of self discovery he describes incidents that clearly demonstrate how these gifts evolved. Throughout his life David found himself in desperate situations and turned to God and the Divine support staff of angels, ascended masters, and spirit guides. They always came through for David and his gratitude is expressed in various ways throughout the book. David goes to rock bottom and makes it back again in this touching and inspiring true story to become a very gifted spirit messenger with an increasing following as he brings messages of love, healing and forgivness from spirits of deceased loved ones.

The Spirit Garden has taken it's place on my book shelf of "favorites only." This is the shelf I return to when I want to re-read a book that touched me profoundly in its first reading. David is the real deal and a gift to anyone who shares any time with him whether through his written work or through a personal reading or conversation. His obvious gentle and loving demeanor provides a safe space for your personal growth, communication with the other side, healing and the connection with your divine guidance.

What a blessing to be able to read a candid account of someone who is walking the walk---owning his gifts and using them in service of a healthy, happy, high vibration world. Reading about David's journey from his childhood to today not only will wake you up to your abilities and gifts but give you courage to own them and use them too. I highly suggest going to his website for additional information about his medium and psychic readings, photos and spiritual concepts (such as chakras). This man is more than an author, medium and psychic but a teacher as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars David Baker, spiritual alchemist, transmutes adversity into light, life and love, October 14, 2011
This review is from: The Spirit Garden: A Medium's Journey (Paperback)
David Baker joins the ranks of gifted psychic mediums John Holland, Lisa Williams, James Van Praagh, Kathy Baker and John Edward who turned their youthful hardships into adult strengths of character and generosity.

Their life stories, as does David Baker's in "The Spirit Garden: A Medium's Journey" illuminate how a budding young medium can develop and manifest "enhanced spiritual consciousness" forged out of life's hopes, limitations, sorrows, and joys.

It's a memoir that, abbreviated, could have been plunked down in the center of Robert Schwartz's "Your Soul's Plan: Discovering the Real Meaning of The Life You Planned Before You Were Born."

Until I finished reading "The Spirit Garden" I couldn't stand to be away from Baker's book, eager to discover what happened next in his tumultuous life.

"The Spirit Garden" is reminiscent of Jeannette Walls' book "The Glass Castle."
Their ultimately triumphant autobiographies show how their young spirits were crushed into a small box of deprivation by a sick parent.

Such childhood horrors create a feeling of powerlessness that saps developing adolescents and young adults from realizing there are grown-ups in the outside world who could have come to their aid, if only they had known.

With the sudden disappearance of young David Baker's mother, his beleaguered father quickly replaces her with a wicked stepmother straight out of central casting. She targets David and his siblings, as if scripted from "Stop Walking on Eggshells" by Randi Kreger and Paul Mason MS. David is banished to foster care, ultimately a fortunate twist of fate.

Baker's story will stick with you long after you finish it, recognizing his amazing growth as he reclaims his power. He fully embraces life despite initially being clobbered, forever seeking to be his best version of himself. His ultimate successes feel heroic.

His book is designed to be inspirational for others. It broadcasts positive ripple effects to encourage readers to view life in a heightened, more loving light; including becoming more forgiving, more tolerant - traits our world could use more of now.

Ignore the book editing issue (fascinating how many extraordinary mediums have a bit of dyslexia) as concern over some grammar and misspellings would be a silly reason to miss out on "The Spirit Garden."

David Baker's next book promises to be edited down to the bone. This book begs to be optioned into a blockbuster movie.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Journey, August 21, 2011
I found this book especially intriguing because the writer was a Deputy Sheriff from a large city. I say this because as we all know, Peace Officers are inclined to use logic, reasoning, and physical evidence before they arrive at certain conclusions. This is not some fanciful speculation by a Tarot Card reader with her palm outstretched, this is from the perspective of a cop, and this is what intrigues me so. The author makes the case for the reality of paranormal experiences and does so well as he introduces you to his early beginnings, right through to his discovery of self and the latent abilities that although dormant for some time, were re-awakened within him and brought to full potential. There are many stories of Ghostly encounters experienced by he and his co-workers in the jails, which I found of particuliar interest. The reader who picks up this book will find it difficult to put down, and will be disappointed when it comes to an end. Now the only question to David is; "When will your next book be published?"
