This small book is exquisite! Full of wonderful photographs, many I've never seen before. The text offers a wide range of stories, myths and thoughts on Indian spirituality. It is a beautiful piece of work!

This book entails a plethora of authentic portraits of women from a much 'forgotten' era as well as stories of the Red Path. I appreciate the focus on women in one book and World WIsdom printed a version for men as well. The photos are a real treasure. Thank you for sharing them!

There has been so much written about American Indian men and not the women until now. This is a very informative book.

Fitzgerald's series of American Indian quotations and very clear photographs make his books a treasure to keep and to give. This one is no exception. Even my husband is reading it.

Some of the photographs haven't been duplicated in other places and are worth viewing. Some of the historic accounts are beautiful. The book gives a reason why Plains Indian women make up the bulk of the material, but it doesn't help make up for this book leaving so many tribes and other tribal women out. Huge holes that are simply author bias. Having extant women "interpret" or tell about how things used to be during the time of the photos is not appropriate - it's undocumented personal opinion. In many cases, these living women contradict what has been directly attributed to the women photographed.
