I found that The Spirit of Leadership by Dr. Myles Munroe broke the code for me on leadership the way no other book has. In this book Dr. Munroe writes that there are 3 prerequisites of leadership: 1) feelings of significance and self-worth, which comes from the discovery of my true self, 2) passion, and 3) a vision, goal or purpose.

After I have achieved these 3 prerequisites, and know the basic skills of interpersonal relationships, the standard texts on leadership can take over.

This theory explains to me more than any other why some people are leaders and others are not.

What I found lacking in Dr. Munroe's book are the tools to develop or achieve the 3 prerequisites of leadership. Also, I have to work pretty hard to dig out of this book these 3 prerequisites.

Dr. Munroe has a positive, upbeat and optimistic view of human nature, to which I am sympathetic. He writes that leadership is the ability to positively influence my environment or the behavior of others. He says that we are all innately or inherently leaders. If we weren't, he implies that we would be victims, having no control over our environment. This theory makes sense to me.

In summary, I got useful information about leadership out of Dr. Munroe's book. What I didn't get were the tools needed to become a leader. Perhaps I can find them in another book.

I have found this book to be the best book on leadership that I have ever read. Dr. Munroe lays out the attitudes of the Leader in a very clear and concise manner.

True leadership is not something you obtain by doing steps 1,2,3, but by connecting to your source, your designer, your creator, and allowing this power to flow through you will empower the Spirit of Leadership to surface and be revealed.

You most likely will be the last to know when you have arrived, but others will be following anyway.

I have read this book 2 times and continue to review my notes, because it is life changing. Many do not understand the true meaning of a leader. However, Myles Munroe will clear up any questions that you may have concerning your ability to LEAD and achieve GREATNESS. As you can see, there are only a few reviews. This proves my point of the lack of understanding that we have within our world. Do not be the one that hesitates and continue to be confuse. Get this book, study it and take action. You deserve to achieve greatness as a leader because your potential and leadership is AMAZING.

This is a refreshing book that you can instantly tell is written by a Spirit-filled leader. The main concepts are important and profound, but easy to grasp. After reading many texts on leadership that seem the same, it was indeed refreshing to to hear Dr. Munroe's point of view. I would encourage you to read this book and share the principles inside with as many as you can.

Dr. Myles Munroe has spent over 30yrs researching and living the contents of this wonderful book. If you're looking for that one book on leadership that you can read and the recommend to someone else, this is it. Get it!

Mykes Munroe is an excellent author. This book is well written, infomative, and yet, easy to read. I highly recommend this book for anyone who aspires to be a leader.

7/11/05 Dr Munroe Myles focus throughout his guide on the suposition that "all are born to be leader and not many are "born leaders" but can and have become one through situations which forced this role or a deliberate aim for the role with no particular agendae in mind.
