Book Description

June 1979 0853301352 978-0853301356 Revised
Masonry is much more than a social organisation of fraternal benefit to its members. It is a spiritual quest and a way of life and its destiny is to bring spiritual benefits to all men, Masons and non-Masons alike. The right function of modern Masonry is to be the builder of each man's unseen temple of life. It is concerned with true life values and right human relations. It inculcates self-control, honesty, justice, mercy, morality, personal integrity and brotherhood as the necessary foundation for spiritual growth. Indeed the goal of every Mason is growth in understanding of spiritual values; the achieving of mastery of life itself is perfected in the succeeding initiations. This is fascinatingly practical.

About the Author

Foster Bailey (1888-1977) Born in Massachusetts during the famous blizzard of 1888, he was all his life a rebel, unconventional, a non-conformist and a true disciple in the purest human and hierarchical way. In her "Unfinished Autobiography", Alice Bailey writes at some length of the part Foster played in her life and work, and of her abiding gratitude and appreciation. They met in 1919 and worked together for 30 years. At her death, Foster had to assume the major responsibility for making sure that the Alice Bailey books were kept in circulation and that the service activities generated through Lucis Trust continued. Foster's overriding wish during his life was "to be useful" and this he fulfilled right to the time of his death.
