4.0 out of 5 stars personal rather than technical review of karate, July 11, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Spirit of the Sensei: A Study of Japanese Martial Arts (Paperback)
This was a more "cultured" book than others I've read about concerning karate, in that it focused on the background importance and meanings of things like belt levels and titles, rather than give tips on how to improve technically. The second half of the book was particularly special as it contains 2-3 page essays written by students of all belt levels regarding their experiences and feelings about karate.
