Pretty good game,
By scadian "scadian" (central WI) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron (CD-ROM)
My 7 year old daughter loves the movie and was thrilled to see the game in the store. Setup of the game was easy and although she was new to adventure games of this type (pick up items, complete tasks, solve puzzles) she picked up on it very quickly. Graphics and sound are very well done, although the music can get annoying but it can be shut off. As mentioned before, Spirit needs to take care of Rain and in a short time, my daughter who felt sorry for Rain at the beginning was now saying "Oh geez, Rain needs more water, Rain needs more food...", but fortunately, this only lasts for the first quarter of the game. Once Rain is healed and feeling better she doesn't require any more help for the rest of the game. The goal of the game is to rescue fellow horses in the herd and the game can be completed in about 6-8 hours of play time. Sadly, there is nothing more to the game, no other adventures or variations if the game is replayed. Overall the game is well designed and fun to play, but could use a little more.

My Girls Love It,
By A Customer
This review is from: Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron (CD-ROM)
My 6 and 4 yr old girls love this game and beg to play it every day. They got fed up asking me to teach them how to play it and spent the several hours required to learn it themselves. I admire their determination--I gave up after about 10 minutes. The documentation is poor and the play is not obvious. I think the game appeals to them for several reasons. 1) they love horses and the Spirit movie. 2) the game is not `scary' (no monsters). 3) there is a lot of freedom to explore. 4) there is an emphasis on helping others. I had no installation issues on Windows XP.

Pretty Cool,
A Kid's Review

Spirit and his herd were captured by rustlers! Over time, Spirit's herd had been sold to other people and all that was left were two horses. Spirit and an old gray horse. Catch the rabbit and he'll give you a carrot, win a race with the eagle and earn a feather, do good deeds and save your herd! If this game were a bit longer or more difficult, it would have been much better. I beat it in less than 1 hour! Also, as soon as you beat it, there is nothing to do except run around the place and talk to your herd.

Not for the younger child,
By Mark Huddy (Texas) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron (CD-ROM)
My 4 yr old daughter loves Spirit and anything to do with horses. We bought this game early 2003 and was very frustrated how hard it is to play for a young child. This game is for the 8+ range defenitly. I had to play it while my daughter watched and I finished the game and now she can roam around Spirit's homeland free. If you are looking for a game for the avid younger (toddler) horse lover, I suggest Barbie Horse Adventures. My daughter would rather play that than the Spirit game. It is a good game to play and it is quite fun....however, for a much older child.

Spirit Rocks!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron (CD-ROM)
I love the game! I got it for my birthday and loved it. Sadly, It had scratches on it and I didn`t know to check for them and the CD cracked in half! I`m going to get it again. Anyway, the game is great! The only problem is that when your in the middle of a mini game or saving a horse, Rain calls for some food or water. Sometimes when Rain is almost better I do tricks {using Spirit} for her. It`s really fun! The object of the game is to free Spirit`s herd and help other animals along the way. It can be scary because every once in a while a horse rustler will all of a sudden appear! Do not get caught in the green light unless you want to try kicking off a rider.

Great for the horse-lover,

Our 7-year old horse lover was very excited to receive this CD-Rom. It is very involved at first and it was difficult to understand how to play it at the beginning. Once she understood it she has been playing it ever since. Her 5 and 6-year old siblings are able to play it too.

My favorite Cd,
A Kid's Review

This Spirit game rocks for horse lovers. You play as Spirit and seach for the herd and return them to the Homeland. You also find Rain and help her nurse back to health by feeding her sugarcubes, apples and water from a gourd. I can save all the horses before Rain is even better! You can also race the eagle and get a feather if you win. Catch the rabbit and he will give you a carrot which makes Spirit run alittle faster. Collect arrowheads and trade them with Eagle Eye to get stuff like the gourd for Rain and apples and sugarcubes. You can also get saddlebags to hold things. In the beginning Spirit can only hold one saddlebags.

This Spirit game is so fun. I can save all the horses before Rain is better! You play as Spirit and seach for the herd and return them to the Homeland. You also find Rain nurse her back to health by feeding her apples, sugarcubes and water from a gourd. This could be annoying though because every time you will need to fill the gourd if Rain will need again. Each time you catch a rabbit Spirit can run alittle faster. Collect arrowheads and trade them with the Eagle Eye to get stuff like the gourd. You can also race the eagle and if you win you get a feather. Also if you help a animal you get a feather too.

Six Year Old Spent Many Happy Hours,
By Maresy Doats (Elgin, IL USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron (CD-ROM)
My granddaughter needed some help getting started but soon caught on to the tasks of collecting arrowheads to trade for items needed to free Spirit's friends and to feed Rain. She also loved racing the Eagle which proved to be quite difficult for her. She spent a happy 5 weeks solving the many challenges to free the horses and make the range safe again. My biggest problem was how to get her to stop playing so that she would take time to eat. Her biggest challenge and mine was figuring out how to deliver coal to Harold. Finally I discovered the answer under hints at the back of the instruction book.
It may be necessary to set the quality of the graphics down a notch or two on some computers before the program will work. A terrific program.

Fun game!,

This review is from: Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron (CD-ROM)
This game is interesting, fun, and sometimes challenging. I beat it in about a week, but it was still a great game. You have to think to figure things out. It gets anoying when Rain is thirsty or hungry when you're in the middle of doing something, but it's worth it. I recommend this game to anyone looking for a good game you'd like to play over and over again.
