2.0 out of 5 stars Not as useful as it sounds, November 27, 2005
By T. Greene (Alberta, Canada) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This book was useful to me in that the author explained his experience with raw foods. Outside of that, the "chapters" often consisted of 3 or 4 paragraphs filled with nothing but the author's opinions on scientific phenomenon. For instance, there is a "chapter" (ie 2 pages) about the biochemistry of the body, where the author says you can become "cleaner" and "tighter" on a cellular level by eating raw foods, but never explains what those words means (I suspect it's because he doesn't know). Half the book is an interview with Dr. Fred Bisci, which I found interesting. However, it showed that Matt hasn't written anything he didn't hear from this doctor, and it would have been a lot more useful to just read a book by Dr. Bisci. This book is not what it sounds like. And there are spelling errors. Quite a few.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Beautiful Book, January 1, 2006
By Suki Zoe (RIght here, right now) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
matt writes simply & honestly. this was a pleasure to read & i felt none of the ego one usually encounters in the raw food world. some of the things he discusses are often talked about, but never written down - i was surprised by his candour. i really valued his focus on the need for elimination & undereating - raw fooders/healthful eaters frequently underestimate the importance of releasing the vast amounts of inherited & lifelong toxicity, & that ongoing colonics, enemas or colemas are essential to maintaining health.
anything about Fred Bisci is a gift - it's a lovely book.

5.0 out of 5 stars good message, December 9, 2007
By J. Taylor (Malibu, CA United States) - See all my reviews

True, there are some grammatical problems with this book, but it's not meant to be a literary masterpiece. It's the message that is important. I give this book five stars because I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone who is raw, transitioning to raw, or thinking about going raw. There are ups and downs with this diet -- mostly ups, but the downs are rarely discussed in other books. The book doesn't claim to be the last word on the subject, either. It encourages the reader to educate themselves as best they can by reading from several sources. Good advice!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book
I found this book very useful and honest. Especially important was what to expect when you embark on a raw food diet. Your body will feel different. Highly Recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice, but lack of substance
I applaud the author for sharing his experience, and since going mostly raw a month ago, I read with great interest. I especially liked the interview at the end. Read more
