Best Nugent album in awhile,
By
This review is from: Spirit of the Wild (Audio CD)
This is easily Ted Nugent's best album since the '70s. It blows previous albums such as Penetrator and Little Miss Dangerous out of the water. Getting Derek St. Holmes back in the fold was a smart move as Ted sounds rejuvenated here. There's lots of good songs here like "Heart and Soul", "Hot or Cold", "Thighraceous", and "Lovejacker." Longer tracks such as "Tooth, Fang, and Claw" and "Fred Bear" are as strong as the songs on his '70s albums. Some of the other tracks such as "Wrong Side of Town", "Primitive Man", and "Just Do It Like This" aren't up to par with the rest of the album. Still this is a return to form as the good far outweighs the bad.

Great CD for a Non-Nug fan as well...,

I'm a female that does not proclaim to be a Ted Nugent fan. I'm not a gutair player so I can't say this music has difficult or inovative licks. I not that familiar with Ted's older stuff so I can't make that comparison either. I'm not a hunter. However, I sincerely and completely love Spirit of the Wild. I listen to it daily (at work, in the car, heck, I even jog to it) and have yet to get tired of it. My personal favorites are Tooth, Fang & Claw, Fred Bear, Heart & Soul, and Spirit of the Wild although I like them all. I got the extreme pleasure of seeing Ted at a small county fair. Amazing performance! He "warmed up" for Bad Co. Let's just say, when Ted was done and Bad Co. started, it was so anti-climatic, I had to leave. Not sure exactly why I relate to this particular CD so much but I do know it makes me feel good.

This album marks the return to familiar waters (like a salmon going upstream) for Ted Nugent...good music! We lost Ted there for a decade or so but SPIRIT OF THE WILD sets things right. Ted Nugent is an American music treasure and this album may help remind folks that ole Terrible Ted is still alive and kicking (and licking if the mood is right I'm sure). The songs have a theme that will remind the listener of the Amboy Dukes days, hunting, dominance, guns and the outdoors. The music is fresh and crisp, Ted's guitar work just keeps getting better. Derek St. Holmes returns and the magic just comes right back. The production methods were modern and polished, this was a ground up effort, not just some of his old music slapped onto a CD format without digital remastering. There are some people who will NOT like this album...Janet Reno, Jessie Jackson, Sarah Brady, The Crips and Bloods, NAACP, Yaser Arafat, IRS, the United Nations and all those liberals to name a few, he explains his attitude towards these people and institutions on track 9, I have to agree with him! The 80's were a disaster for Ted, this release and the 1997 release of LIVE AT HAMMERSMITH 79 have re-energized this Rock and Roll warhorse. The Great Gonzo hath returned! Long Live Ted!

Ted's back!!!,

This is Terrible Ted at his best. When the 80's started, Ted's music went cold.. This maybe could've came to effect because of Derek St. Holmes leaving the band. But, returning for Spirit of The Wild was perfect. This is my fav Ted Nugent album. I'm not talking about the compilation of Great Gonzo. Anyway if you want a great Ted album, buy this. I'm not just saying this. Take one listen to Fred Bear. It just rocks!!!!!!!!! The best songs are, the awesome Fred Bear, which, if it was made like 10 or 15 years ago it wouldve blown the competion out of the water. Another great song is, the underrated, I shoot back. It sounds so perfect for an album like spirit, it has a good hunting feel. also, listen to the powerful Thighracious, the politically CORRECT kiss my ass, and just do it like this. I also like Heart and Soul. It's just awesome ... . But all the songs rock. i love wrong side of town.. it took me the longest time to get used to but after i listened to the whole thing i couldnt stop. i like lovejacker..its kinda too soft but its jus a nice song.. all of these songs rock. if u name any song on here ill give u areason its good. . So if I were you, get this album by the most underrated guitarist Ted Nugent!!!!!

This CD an outstanding for the sportsman. Anyone who engages in any aspect of the outdoors and appreciates the bond with nature will understand and appreciate the songs and lyrics from this CD. The message that uncle Ted puts out is clear and motivates others to enjoy the spirit of the wild.

Finally Ted hit it on the mark. This is a great listen to all the Nugent fans out there. I haven't been impressed with Ted since about 1978. Nice to have him back. Songs that hit on all chords are Spirit of the Wild, Tooth Fang and Claw, Fred Bear. Keep rocking Ted!

Ted's most thoughtful album to date, from the Dukes on.,

Nugent has created many fine songs with many fine musicians, but this album tops them all. Every track is Ted at his most bodacious in a long time. "I Shoot Back", "Spirit of the Wild", good rock'n'roll! His tribute to Fred Bear is nothing less than the things you can truly say about a friend who has crossed over. "Kiss My Ass" is strictly telling it like it is. The Nuge is a hunter par excellence, and doesn't mind telling you that. He isn't a killer, he is a hunter. This album is one big celebration of "Here's what I do, take it or leave it" to me! Enjoy a feast of Nugent the stalker, the friend, the musician!

Five Stars for Fred Bear Alone,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Spirit of the Wild (Audio CD)
This album is great. Ted's guitar and vocals are very very good. The album isn't as good as Cat Scratch Fever, but it's worth the 10 bucks just for Fred Bear. All the people who said this album was bad and the lyrics & guitar were laughable don't know what music is. They couldn't play a guitar if they tried (no-talent morons), otherwise they'd realize that Ted was one of the revolutionary guitarists of the 70's. Just listen to his solos and you know he's the real deal. All of his songs are interesting and innovative. This album's totally worth it.

Ted humongous ego sholud have never got rid of Derek, whose voice and feeling is outstanding. I cannot imagine the ego deflating excercise uncle ted must have made to call Derek back. This is a very good rock record. Derek if you read this someday... you play kick ass guitar too!
