Revelle mixes gold and poison in synthesizer enhanced poetry,
By A Customer
This review is from: Spirit of Rumi (Audio CD)
Review Vision ll: Spirit of RumiIn Revell's industrial period (aka SPK) in The Last Attempt at Paradise his primal screams nailed his musical philosophy into you cranium. He didn't let you up until you were near death. Electronics found him grafting hornet flight sounds to cricket mating calls producing music to make your skin crawl in The Insect Musicians. Then came the soundtracks(Some of the latest being Bride of Chucky and The Negotiator) that married Hollywood images and effects to his soulful disturbing musical emissions. Now Vision ll on the Angel label (Oh! The irony!) present Graeme Revell's liquid synth extracts deftly spicing the offerings of Spirit of Rumi. Revell truly has not sold out to the higher poetics beautifully phrased throughout this unnerving, spiritual Vision Quest (?). The old darkness still lurks mid-disk in "The Breath." Mr. Revelle brings with him to this disk the haunting Ney flute player who remained anonymous on The Crow; City of Angels sound track, the Turkish master Omar Faruk Tekbilek. New Agers, make certain that you honestly desire to take this seemingly heavenly pilgrimage with these gypsy angels and whirlers. They are hiding something unspoken behind their white gowns. Revelle devotees will not be disappointed.

my favorite cd so far this year,
By A Customer
This review is from: Spirit of Rumi (Audio CD)
my only frustration with "Visions II" is that I haven't been able to locate "Visions I". This cd is appealing on first listen but grows on you quickly. It is original, encantatory, soothing, emotive, and just a joy to hear about four times a week! I hope its creators continue the quest they began in this album and turn out many more. All my friends are getting this one for Christmas.

A deep spiritual yet modern audio-visual Sufi phantasmagoria,
By A Customer
This review is from: Spirit of Rumi (Audio CD)
It sounds like a remix of some original record. It's, actually, a cloudy emotional expression through synthesizers and tabla's of an ocean-bed-deep trapestry knitted cozily with the Sufi poetry of Jalaluddin Rumi--among others--with cadences of exquisite exactness and creativity. Eternally fossilizes the voice of the Nusret Fateh Ali Khan in a rare and unique manner. A brilliant work of art!
