Book Description

February 28, 1999
Step back in time and imagine what it was like to be a participant in the thirteen-day siege of the Alamo that ended in a bloody battle on March 6, 1836, and left nearly 2,000 men dead. The horror of those final moments when men fought for their lives in hand-to-hand combat is etched in the landscape. Even today, the intense moments of the final siege repeat themselves for those who happen to be in the right place at the right time.

Ghostly manifestations and paranormal sightings within the battlefield area and on the Alamo grounds have been reported for over 160 years. These mysterious appearances, many of which occur around the anniversary of the battle, simply add to the legends of the Alamo.

3.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good read, April 25, 2004
By A Customer
After a visit to the Alamo, I went in a nearby bookshop and spotted this. I bought it, thinking it would prove a different kind of Alamo read. The authors obviously did a lot of research for this book and came up with some pretty chilling, apparently true stories. A few that grabbed me the most was the appearance of a man dressed in buckskins appearing next to a display case and then vanishing; the other was the story that Davy Crockett's picture would hang sideways without anyone being able to reach it, and finally the ghostly re-enactment of the death of a defender. The only weakness the book has is the apparent lack of a proofreader. There are numerous mistakes (mainly in spelling/grammar) that should have been corrected.
