Christian Meditation,
This review is from: The Spiritual Art of Creative Silence (Paperback)
Strictly for those seeking a stronger relationship with God. The student is led through various levels of meditation. The beginning level is recognizing how uncomfortable most of us are when we put aside the busyness of life and seek a place of silence, both physically and spiritually. Use of a journal to record your thoughts, questions, progess is encouraged. The book has been read in its entirety; a second round is in progress, one where the practice of inviting Jesus and love into ones life will begin. Many scripture references.

This review is from: The Spiritual Art of Creative Silence (Paperback)
The Spiritual Art Of Creative Silence is totally biblical and offers a lot of good insight and advice on how to get started. This is NOT some esoteric mystical book, but one full of practical advice and real life. The author comes from a Baptist background, only learning of the contemplative lifestyle as an adult.
In each chapter the author deals with some aspect of her journey (really spiritual issues we all face), sharing personal struggles and how God worked in her life. She ends each chapter with "Finding God in the Silence", a short meditative exercise aimed at helping the reader learn to center his or her attention on the person of Christ in action. This is a book that is very practical, insightful and could be the beginning of a changed life. |
