An eye-opening patriotic view of our nations capitol,
By Tom Bigby (Wash, D C) - See all my reviews
This review is from: A Spiritual Heritage Tour of the United States Capitol (Paperback)
It seems the reports we hear through the mainstream media have given a misleading and downright false view of the men who founded our nation. Barton's guided tour takes us to actual statues and painitings throughout the capitol explaining largly through quoting the subject's actual words the real background and beliefs of our founding fathers as well as how far our court system is overstepping it's judicial authority. It is refreshing in the midst of so many cleverly worded sound bytes aimed at distorting our Christian heritage that Barton has irrefutable evidence based on original documents. After reading this book and also "Original Intent" by Barton the tactics of those who have set out to wipe Christianity off the face of the planet starts to become clear.

Negative Reviewers Clearly Haven't Read This Peek Into the Mind of a Master,
This review is from: A Spiritual Heritage Tour of the United States Capitol (Paperback)
Typical for radical leftist ideologues, all of the negative reviews are hastily-typed, uninformed, hypocritical, and poorly thought out. It is clear they haven't even bothered to read the book, much less learn at the feet of the Master they criticize, thus exposing THEIR ridiculous bias.
David Barton is to American History as Samuel Adams was to the American Revolution. Without him, you are not working with all of the key players (facts). If you have never seen David Barton in person, or read any of his books, and absorbed some of the massive stores of deep, detailed knowledge this man has for the characters, famous and obscure, in American History, you are truly missing out on a life experience. Ignore the fools who pretend to disapprove of what they have not read; David Barton is a more highly qualified historian than all of the "professors" who brainwashed all of the negative reviewers, combined, by orders of magnitude. Seeing the crudely-written criticisms of David Barton's work is like watching a mouthy thirteen year-old who is busy playing a caffiene-fueled game on his PlayStation, XBOX or Wii lecturing his father, who works his tail off to provide for the family, and is a paragon of responsibility and integrity in his community, on the benefits of hard work. It's like nails on the chalkboard...if you haven't experienced David Barton, in print, live, or both, you have no right to critique his work. Your inane rhetoric is like a spoiled six year-old critiquing Michaelangelo's technique.

This short read book is a real eye opener. Shows where out country started and what type of men we had then, compared to what we have now. We have no morals, we quit praying. We quit putting GOD in our schools. His word, his name, and have quit God altogether. No wonder this nation will not survive. This book is for all to read, and get educated in our past, and where we need to go for our future. A nation divided, will not stand. Great read. I would demand it was a must read for all our children in public school.

With all of the attacks against our Founding Fathers, it is nice to see someting that is in their own words that proves these were men of faith and had a trust in God. Men that recognized they could not build this great Nation without the help of a higher source of inspiration and direction.

Great Vision, Sloppy History,
By A Customer
This review is from: A Spiritual Heritage Tour of the United States Capitol (Paperback)
While David Barton has certainly taken up an admirable cause in explicating the role of faith in the American founding, he is at best an amateur historian. I have been disappointed numerous times by his slapdash string of undocumented assertions and questionable evidence. Additionally, his obvious anti-Catholic bias detracts from his pretense to objective history, particularly in "Spiritual Tour".There is plenty of evidence of the importance of faith to the Founding that one does not have to resort to one-sided sloppy polemics. I would recommend other authors who rely more on original sources than political biases to guide their studies.

Unfortunate bias by David Barton,
By Ken Kressin (Cannon Falls, MN USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: A Spiritual Heritage Tour of the United States Capitol (Paperback)
Unfortunately, David Barton is a conservative, political activist with evangelical motives. This might have a teeny, weeny chance of affecting the quality of this work (it does). Someone asked for an alternative in a comment below. I would would recommend the free "Jefferson Hour" podcast. 100+ hours available. The portrayer of Jefferson is an excellent speaker, scholar and doesn't sugar-coat Jefferson. Excellent "conversation format", great production quality - interesting and entertaining.
