5.0 out of 5 stars Exotic, Evocotive collection of songs., May 18, 2002
This review is from: Spiritual High (Audio CD)
What an awesome CD full of gorgous world, electronic compositions. I woiuld consider this CD to Earthtone Collection Two but with a stronger Middle Eastern twist. This CD is well above any of the Pure Moods CD. They are good CDs but there is even more than what any of those compilations offer.

Shakuhachi Tales by Kamal is a very dark, electronic, misty, ambient track with a very cloudy eerie sound and haunting flutes. The electronic sound effects at the beginning and ending are absolutely haunting. Ali Baba by Karunesh is an 8 and a half minute track with exotic, drums, flutes, and Sanskrit chants to give a very haunting sound. This song is similar to Shakuhachi Tales only a bit brighter. Truth About Humans by Govinda is a very haunting track with a very strong Middle Eastern sound with a Middle Eastern violin. Voices From A Distant Planet by Cybertribe has a more Australian sound and Aboriginal chants. Uktena by Stonecoat is a Native American influenced track with a brooding atmosphere and a really cool beat. Escape To Reality by Mars Lasar is absolutely powerful and awesome. It has a much more spacey sound and a strobe-light sounding guitar riff sample from the Smiths 1983 hit How Soon Is Now. This song could almost make a dent on the pop charts. History Of he Sandman has a much more electronic/classical sound with haunting Gregorian Chants, gorgoues violin, and beautiful vocals. One to enjoy on a dark rainy evening. Blossoms From India by Gingko Garden is a jazzier song with a much more Indian sound with a Sitar and bizarre violins and a awesome chant. Enchantment by Alkaemy is a somber track with a more Celtic twist. It's a very beautiful song. Parada by Marcome is a much more Enya-esque song with haunting vocals and thundering drums. It's a very eerie yet kind of Dori-Caymmi-esque song(Dori Caymmi is a Brazilian guitarist. His Kicking Cans LP is great). Medicine Man is a more Mayan Central American influenced with plucky soudnign instruments and a very jungle like sound. This is one to enjoy on a trip to the Amazon. Frog Dancing by David Anthon Clark is a return to the more Australian sound that was on Track 4 by Cybertribe only this track is probably easier to get into. I love the flute ending. Red Rhythm Dragon by James Asher is much more intense and has a far more traditional sound. If you like Peter Gabriels Passion or Passion Sources you might enjoy this song. Ring Of Gold is a very Mayan, Aztec sounding song with bizarre voice effects and many Myan instruments to give this song a very jungle like sound. Alegria by Potschs Potchska is another jungle like sounding song similar to Ring Of Gold only not wuite as jungle sounding. A good song to end the CD with.

This CD is one to include in any world music lovers collection. It is more powerful than any of the Pure Moods CDs. I enjoy all of these songs on this CD unlike the Pure Moods where I sometimes skip some tracks.

I only wish Earthtone could release a second Spiritual High CD because this CD is incredible.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Spiritual Journey, November 15, 2001

This CD invites you in from the first track to the very end. Of all the New Age CDs I have (which number almost 100), this is by far the best one I own. It combines lush and spiritual songs together which combine to make the title of this CD quite appropriate.

I recommend this CD to anyone who has a passing or strong interest in the New Age music area.

4.0 out of 5 stars I LOVE THIS CD!, June 5, 2000

I'm a yoga instructor and use this CD in my classes. It's very upbeat with a nice blend of east meets west. You can dance to it but it's also very nice to listen to. It makes you want to move. All my students have asked about this CD so they can have it for their own collection.
