This topic can cause fear to rise in the reader's heart but the truth that is revealed brings a simple, Biblical step by step of insight and pratical freedom any person can obtain by being well informed. Most people are struggling with problems in their home and with people, this book brings to the surface the hidden causes. An innocent purchase, souvenirs, family heirlooms, a cultural practice, etc. have a history.

Eddie and Alice Smith have taken time and invested years of study and have practical knowledge which substantiate their recommendations and pratical steps to rid a home of personal conflict and bring back family harmony. I recommend this book for anyone needing understanding to any unanswered questions concerning their home and unexplained situations, illnesses, and continual unrest.

Each chapter builds on the next and allows the reader to have a sense of empowerment through understanding and functional steps to follow and then prayers to complete the house cleaning. The Smith's have put biblical rights back into the hands of the Christians thus making God every more real. Thank you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spiritual House Cleaning: Protect Your Home and Family from, July 6, 2004
By
A. Diaz (San Jose, CA) - See all my reviews
I have already started cleaning house! Its amazing how we hold on to unnecessary ill gotten treasure, and what do I mean by "ill gotten"? Stuff like gifts handed to me from previous bad relationships, i.e. clothes, jewelry, heavy metal and rock CDs, and junk one acquires over the years. I have asked God to show me what is preventing me from having a closer relationship with Him, and he has brought to mind many things that I normally I would not have thought had a spiritual significance. In some cases I struggled throwing stuff away, but the Holy Spirit quickly reminded me "obedience" is more pleasing to God than "sacrifice." By acting on obedience I have now learned to pay attention to the voice in our hearts like Isaiah the prophet.
When he says in Isaiah 30:21-22: "Whether you turn to the right or to the left, you will hear a voice saying, 'This is the road! Now follow it.' Then you will treat your idols of silver and gold like garbage; you will throw them away like filthy rags."

Wow! I am recommending this book to others in my church. This book is really good for those desiring to move on to spiritual maturity.

Thanks Alice and Eddie!

5.0 out of 5 stars Learn how to break the power of Satan in your life and home!, June 1, 2003
By
Becca Greenwood (Colorado Springs, CO) - See all my reviews
Many are trapped in darkness by the embracing of wrong attitudes, harmful objects of worship and the possession of items that do not glorify God. This book not only explains open doors of deception, but also teaches the reader how to rid his home of evil. Eddie and Alice Smith provide a step by step guide of the practice of breaking the schemes of Satan in our homes, leading us into a life of peace, obedience and purity before God. Seeking the Lord and praying through our home is a practice that my family and I will continue to do in order to establish and maintain a pure home that worships God. If you sense evil in your home and deisre victory, this book is a must!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Book for the Christian Family, May 29, 2003
By A Customer
Spiritual Housecleaning by Eddie and Alice Smith is an outstanding book that reveals how Satan works to destroy our homes and our lives. Although many of his schemes may seem insignificant and perhaps innocent, they are designed to cause havoc in a Christian home. In this book, Alice and Eddie help us understand why these things are harmful to our Christian walk. Then they skillfully lead us through the steps to purify our homes. This book is a must for every Christian family!

This book is a must to read. It may answer those questions you have regarding "things that may have spirits attached to them." It will answer some questions as to why certain things may be happening to people. A must read if you're really interested in "cleaning your home from unwanted guest".

4.0 out of 5 stars Is it time to clean house?, December 4, 2007
Spiritual Housecleaning was definitely better then I thought it would be. It seems that books about spiritual warfare and the demonic can cause fear, and also get you to start looking for a demon under every bush. I, however, felt that the Smith's took a very balanced approach to looking at ways to purify our homes, and lives. They even say throughout their book to "seek the Lord's guidance" on what action you need to take in the purification process. They also talk about becoming too superstitious. "If Satan can't convince us to keep things that defile our lives, he will provoke us to legalism and superstition. In either case be wise." Of course from a theological point of view, I'm sure some will strongly disagree with the Smith's book. Even for myself, I disagreed with how they were using some Scriptures to make points. At the very least though, there were elements of truth no matter how I interpreted things. One point they made that I thought was good was that objects in the world are neither good nor evil, but rather how they are used and thought of that gives them a spiritual significance. The Smiths list several objects that might be in one's home that could possibly hold a negative spiritual significance, and should be prayerfully considered for going into the nearest trash can. Another point that I thought was good was to consider how your own attitudes, behaviors etc. affect those in your own household. Do they bring peace, hope and joy to those around you, or fear and anger? The Smiths go into detail about the this, and how to "clean the atmosphere".

Overall, I would recommend this book to anyone. Just try to keep an open mind, and pray about what they say. Who knows it might bring a little more peace to your home and life.

1.0 out of 5 stars Attack on Catholics, August 8, 2010
I was insulted by the authors comment "If you are from a Catholic background, prayerfully consider the following experience... (pages 64-67)" The authors then goes on to criticize the Church for the use of crucifixes. Instead of criticizing the Catholic Church for using crucifixes and the Rosary perhaps the authors should learn why they are central to the Catholic faith.

The Catholic crucifix is the ultimate symbol of the Catholic Church. The representation of Christ as Redeemer and Savior is the central theme of Christianity. The Catholic crucifix serves as a reminder of Christ's sacrifice and love for all men. It is used to symbolize the redemption of mankind through Christ's sacrifice. The Catholic crucifix is the central symbol of the Catholic faith; no Catholic church in the world is without one.

The Catholic crucifix came to be recognized as the universal symbol of Christianity, symbolizing the sacrifice of Christ, and the consequent redemption of mankind. Reformation Protestants in the 16th century, however, rebelled against the use of the Catholic crucifix and stripped the corpus from the cross, so as to but greater emphasis on the Resurrection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not Just A Quick Read, But A Manual For Life!, May 28, 2003
By
Brenda Kidd (Houston, Texas) - See all my reviews
I've come to trust books written by Eddie and Alice Smith because they use scripture to back up the statements they make. I've read other books written by them and have always been blown away by the no-nonsense way they capture the attention of the reader. As they share each example, excitement begins to well up in you because of the revealed truth of their statements.

And this book is no different. It is clear, concise and PRACTICAL. So easy to read and understand. It is not difficult at all to relate to many of the examples they give of people not understanding that the small, minute decisions we make in life can and do have far-reaching and eternal ramifications.

This book is a road map to freedom on many levels. It is truly EMPOWERING! I plan to read it again and again. I can't wait to see what they write next.

This is a real eye opener. The dynamics of "Spiritual Housecleaning" enters the real world where you live. As the book demonstrates in its opening chapter, who would want to live in a home with poisonous SNAKES crawling around them? Yuck! My life was truly touched by the dramatic interpretation of what we are allowing in our closest domain. Then telling how to get rid of these entanglements for good. An easy to understand & liberating read.

This book was excellent. If you are going through Spiritual Warfare and don't know why, this book gives you many ways to clean up your house and life. There are many openings we give the enemy to get into our lives and make things hard. This book is not afraid to say what is truth. Easy and fast reading book but filled with information. I want to pass this info on to everyone I know.
