Spiritual Journaling: Recording Your Journey Toward God,
By A Customer
This review is from: Spiritual Journaling: Recording Your Journey Toward God (Spiritual Formation Study Guides) (Paperback)
This is an excellent book about the lost art of journaling. In a world full of new age type spirituality it refreshing to work through a book like this where a Christian viewpoint is kept while exploring the soul and inner feelings.

I was intrigued by the title - Spiritual Journaling...wondered how it was diferent than the journaling I already do. I checked the book out and decided I would try leading a class at my church using the book. The group loved the sharing time and the questions really helped warm people up to one another while not being as personal/risky as sharing out of their journals would have been...(which is also an option and would work well for some groups). The "agenda" worked tightly for an hour and a half class with on the average of 9 people....more people would take longer and as it was I had to adjust the format to fit the time. My group worked well - people seemed to enjoy it - and I now have a few more ideas for delving into my own past and looking for themes/ crossroads/ feelings etc. It was heartwarming to see God(Spirit/ Creator/ All That Is) at work in my/our life(ves).

This is an excellent book to use by yourself or with another person or a group. It has been a great tool to use for spiritual guidance & I don't find it weird or in conflict with Christian teachings like some spiritual teachings.

If you are thinking about starting or teaching a spiritual journaling course, this is the book you need. The book is divided into weekly sessions that includes group activities and journaling exercises that will help you to cultivate a deeper knowledge of your self, your past, your future, and God's divine hand in your life. Highly recommended. Christian Meditation CD: Taking Control of Your Thought Life

Brother Dan's Journal,

I was blessed by Dan Phillips' book - Spiritual Journaling. My great nephew recently announced he had 1200 Facebook friends. Too much emphasis on quantity nowadays. Would that present day bloggers could incorporate qualities of Brother Dan's little moleskin journal entries into their blogs - and lives.
