From the Publisher

Saints of yesteryear spoke of it as the dark night of the soul. Others, the wilderness experience. You may just call it spiritual exhaustion. Regardless of how it's described, many of us encounter a place in our walk with God that seems far removed from glowing, victorious faith. It's a place of spiritual dryness, of doubt, of listlessness--of knowing God created us for more than what we're experiencing, but of feeling incapable of moving on toward his high calling for our lives. Distilling the proven insights from Steve Arterburn's highly successful Life Recovery Bible (Tyndale) and combining them with new material from Arterburn, the NIV Spiritual Renewal Bible is designed to lead the parched traveler to springs of spiritual refreshment and invigoration. It helps instill in readers the truth they need to renew hope, conviction, and joy in their spiritual lives. Each of two reading plans--an Old and a New Testament--takes the reader through a cycle of 49 devotionals, divided into seven keys: SURRENDER--Seek God and surrender to Him. SEE IT--See the truth. SAY IT--Speak the truth. OWN IT--Accept responsibility. RELEASE IT--Grieve, forgive, and let go. REDEEM IT--Transform your life. PRESERVE IT--Maintain spiritual gains. Each devotional builds on one of these keys, focusing on a specific Bible passage. It relates that passage to life and shows how it exemplifies the particular key. Hand-in-hand with the seven keys, the NIV Spiritual Renewal Bible encourages readers to apply the spiritual disciplines: prayer, service, fasting, meditation, and others. Twenty-four Old Testament and thirty-seven New Testament essays--each a full page in length and keyed to a Scripture passage--provide different perspectives on the spiritual disciplines. In addition, ten Spiritual Discipline Profiles illustrate the different disciplines in action in the lives of Bible figures. So when your customer needs a spiritual boost or is concerned about a friend who's lost the spark, recommend the Bible that's specially designed to help rekindle the flame. The NIV Spiritual Renewal Bible. It will help bring back the joy of Christian faith.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Bible, December 3, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Spiritual Renewal Bible, Hardcover (Hardcover)
This fantstic Bible was given to me as a gift 12 years ago. It was my first Bible and since then I have become a Christian.
The Spritual Renewal Bible speaks to you like a friend or neighbor. Each Book of the Bible has a historical and religious synopsis to aid in understanding the writer and the purpose. Interspersed throughout the Bible there are Spiritual Devotionals, Character Profiles, Text Notes and Spiritual Disciplines.
I have given this particular Bible as gifts to many. Unfortunately it is out of print, but the new and used copies that I have purchased through Amazon.com have been in excellent condition.
