This is the best Christian book I've ever read about weight loss because it gets right to the heart of the matter - God's word and plans for us - to live and be healthy. I have lost 20 pounds in 2 months using the practical principles revealed in this book. Thank You Kara Davis for being bold enough to tell the truth and professional enough to do it gently!

This is the best, easy to read, devotional on general healthy living and weight loss. Even if you're not overweight, the life principles are foundational to a healthy lifestyle. My husband and I read through it once (my husband was so impressed, he asked for his own copy) Now, we are revisiting it again, and will continue to do so in the hopes that eventually all the concepts will begin to be fleshed out in our daily lives! I am ordering more copies!

Ironically, Dr. Davis released this updated edition the same year that I went into a vegetarian lifestyle program after needing double bypass surgery. Four years later I am still learning and plan to keep this book around for handy reference. It is chock full of useful information and spiritual insights about why this nation has such staggering weight problems. In my case, my longtime overeating stemmed from a root of self-centeredness. I know I am not alone; Dr. Davis notes that this common habit runs directly opposite the other-centered living prescribed by the Bible. That people in the church have even worse weight problems than those outside the church ought to be a source of embarrassment and conviction for every follower of Christ, regardless of background or denomination. This state of affairs also points uncomfortable fingers at our nation's food system, which has advertised its way into the hearts and minds of millions while putting profits ahead of good health. It is small wonder (as she points out) that 96 percent of American children recognize Ronald McDonald, or that children's consumption of soft drinks more than doubled from the late 1970s to the late `90s. Individuals can definitely profit from reading this book and taking its lessons to heart. However, it will be even more useful in a group setting, where participants can help reinforce its teachings and hold each other accountable to embracing a healthy lifestyle.

I am on Day 42 of this book. I stumbled on this book in mid-July in a CVS. I browsed through it before purchasing it and said I'd read it. I did not begin reading it until early September.

Dr. Davis has written this book in a way that the reader can understand. It is conversational, yet, not overwhelming with alot of medical terminology, yet factual. She quotes medical facts and most importantly, she reminds (or educates for some) that as Christians, we are responsible for maitaining the temples that the Lord has given us.

Unlike many books by (so called) weight loss, fitness, medical, and nutritional professionals, Dr. Davis does not divey out diet plans. She knows what is right for one may not be right for another, but rather, she attempts educate the reader in that health is a lifestyle change, not a one time diet or something one does every now and then.

The fact is that many conditions and diseases can be prevented. Thank you Dr. Davis for writing this book.

Even though I haven't finished reading this book, I find it informative. Being a Christian, I find it refreshing that the scriptures are used to back up what Kara Davis, MD wrote about.
I had aquired a copy of her first edition and went on line to get more copies to share with family and friends, when I found this second edition book, that takes you on a 50 day journey for a new way of life to a healthy YOU.
I really enjoyed her first book "Spiritual Secrets to Weight Loss. It really inspired me to jump on the wagon and once and for all, now that I found a way to loose weight without all that fake food, etc.(You can loose weight with the right real food.)
I also learned by reading her books, what the steps were from the begining. I hate it when you don't get the whole picture before starting. This gives you insight to what the journey is about, and when you reach your weight goal, the journey goes on to maintain it. In that way I knew what was down the road, before I even started and that it would be a life time journey to a happier, healthy and more spiritual being. Which is what I have been reaching for, and wasn't making the progress I had hoped. Now I have the keys to keep me going on this journey.
Both books are worth the money, and this will be a way of life, forever. (Which I can LIVE with. I am also a 3rd generation diabetic.)

We used Dr. Davis' book as a Weight Loss program, so to speak, at our church. The experience by the participants was so positive that the program was conducted a second time three months after we finished the first program.

In Spiritual Secrets to Weight Loss, Dr. Davis does a fabulous job of weaving biblical truths into medically-sound facts and guidelines. As the title of the book suggests, it's through understanding the spiritual truths written in the Bible that are especially important to finding success with losing weight. If you desire to better appreciate the significance of spiritual matters of the Christian faith that contribute to losing weight, then I highly recommend this book.
