Tania Marie offers a wonderful, in-depth look at the world of tattooing and its spiritual significance. For anyone considering a tattoo, or another tattoo, or just curious about why anyone would get a tattoo, this book is a must-read. The dozens of detailed photos of tattoos are a great added bonus. I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in tattoos and why people have them.

I LOVED this book!!! As a conservative person, I never really considered the idea of wearing a tattoo until some life changing experiences a few years ago, but with time let the idea fade away. Well, here comes Spiritual Skin and I realized that committing to a tattoo wasn't just a physical experience. As the author shares, it really is a spiritual act, bringing what's deep inside of you onto the canvas of your skin for the world to see.
If you're new to the idea of tattoos, you might resonate with finding a soulful artist, like Arizona's Siva Om--one of the artists whose work the author proudly wears--to trust with your body, someone with an eye for designing something that chronicles the next step in your spiritual journey. The author lovingly details her own spiritual journey and how each of her tattoos came to her at different times in her spiritual growth.
The heartfelt expression of spirit-to-body the author insightfully describes, along with artistic photos that fill its pages make this a treasure of a book. Whether or not you currently have tattoos and are looking for new ideas, or curious to learn more about tattoos in general, Spiritual Skin has something for you. I recommended this book to a friend of mine who has tattoos and she raved about it. So even seasoned tattoo aficionados, not just newbies like myself will appreciate Spiritual Skin's contribution to the world of art.

Tania Marie has put together an interesting, informative, and insightful book on everything tattoos. The book has something for everyone: a concise history of tattoos and their sacred role within many cultures, the spiritual significance and deep meaning they provide to many body art lovers, and pages and pages of fascinating (and beautiful) tattoo designs. Whether you are just beginning to explore body art, have many tattoos, or are somewhere in-between, you will love this book!
