This is the final book Jack Frost published before he passed away this year, and as a final work, it is by far his best.
It is a fantastic examination of the heart: why do i do the things I do? As a pastor, this book is a hard read: it may be painful or offensive to find out you have been striving for years, trying desperately (even subconsciously) to please your Master, when we could have been working with our Father. I have personally handed out 14 copies to pastor friends of mine in the last year, and every minister I have given it to has been profoundly changed. Becoming a Son, instead of a Slave, changes your entire life. One friend of mine began to read the book, and became very upset with me. He said: "Ive done everything up till now because God is my boss, and he owns me, and if He wants to burn me out, thats His decision! Im a slave for Christ! Don't tell me, after all I've suffered, that I've done it for the wrong reasons..." He said this with tears of frustration pain rolling down his cheeks, and I saw the spirit of Sonship begin to unravel the spirit of Slavery from around his heart. Another Pastor I gave this to was frustrated and confused as to why he felt he could never engender loyalty in people, or create spiritual sons. He talked the talk, but it never worked. He realized that you can speak like a Father, but act like an Orphan. Once you become a Son (or Daughter), you will create and attract Sons and Daughters. The desire in the Church to "Father" (or "shepherd", etc) is doomed to failure if led by Orphans. A wonderful woman I gave this book to was struggling: She a was loyal and hard working, honest and sincere Christian, trying her best to serve her Pastor. But the pastor continually wounded her, convincing her it was for her own good. Reading this book, she realized she was striving like an Orphan, FOR an Orphan. Finding the freedom to see God as her Father, rather than her Pastor, allowed her to continue to serve her Pastor in love, and escape from the cycle of pain and rejection. The change in her, her marriage, and her family is amazing. It can be painful, but it is absolutely necessary for every man and woman of God to have this loving mirror held to their heart, and find out: am I living life as an Orphan (and creating more orphans in my ministry and family) or am I living life as a Son or Daughter of a loving Father? Can't say enough about this book. It'll change the way you do everything.

Spiritual Slavery to Spiritual Sonship,

Following "Experiencing the Father's Embrace", "Slavery to Sonship" is a wonderful "next step" in receiving revelation of Father God's love and constant care. I had not realized how much I viewed life through an "orphan heart" searching for a home. Jack really deals with what he calls displacing the orphan heart with Father's love. He shows the consequences of living a Christian life without the revelation and understanding of being a son/daughter who is loved, accepted, valuable, wanted. I found myself moaning as I could relate to mistakes Jack made when he himself had "orphan" thinking and lived as such. His teaching helps you grow into the beauty of being adopted and an heir of Daddy God.

Outstanding depiction of orphan to adoption,

This is an incredible look at what it means to be grafted into the Body of Christ. Jack Frost did a beautiful job of explaining what an orphan thinks and acts like before he is adopted into the family of God. As a part-time staff member in a Methodist church I believe this book should be read by every pastor and staff persons in churches. It changes your view on shepherding God's flock in a powerful way!

The late Jack Frost spent much of his life working as a licensed commercial fishing boat captain. While he was tough, skilled, and ventured to some of the roughest and most hostile environments on earth, he was not very good at receiving love from his Heavenly Father. He did not know how to be a son and was hemmed in by 'orphan thinking.' Through some powerful interactions with the Holy Spirit and Father God, he learned to replace his old way of thinking with a new one and began to live life with the understating of his inheritance and sonship through Christ Jesus.
In SPIRITUAL SLAVERY TO SPIRITUAL SONSHIP, his last book, Jack Frost spends some time exploring his past, but much more of the writing is devoted to helping the reader realize the true nature of God's heart for them and throw off chains of striving and strife. That's why I believe this to be Frost's best book; the emphasis is less autobiographical and more prescriptive, and it includes an authoritative use of scripture to back up everything he says. Ultimately the only failing of the book is in its repetitiveness. Many of the main points are presented over and over again, which might be good for someone new to the topic of sonship, but if you've already read a few books by Frost, don't be afraid to skip ahead. An excellent read for virtually any Christian, this book will have an impact on how you view yourself, God, and your relationship to Him. It will challenge you to throw off old and broken ways of thinking and being and embrace the fullness of God's love and care for you. Highly recommended.

This book follows up Jack Frost's other book, Experience the Father's Embrace. It shows us how the lack of a father's love, and the lack of a relationship with our heavenly Father, can cause us to act as spiritual slaves, or orphans.
This book, along with his first book, can bring much healing to the heart that is open to God's love.

Freedom from Performance,

This is Jack Frost's best book. It shows that most Christians operate in a performance mode, trying to please God. They serve as slaves and orphans, not knowing that the heavenly Father wants to pour his favor upon them as his sons. A slave can only serve in the Father's house, but a son knows he is welcome there. Understanding true sonship will bring great freedom in all areas of life.

This book was very inspiring. The author recounts in vivid detail his struggle from slavery to becoming a son in the family of God. I find it quite helpful as a tool for instructing those in the Body of Christ who need to shed their orphan mentality and take on the mentality of a son in Christ. I recommend this book to all Christians who are yet searching for their true identity in Christ.

Great book. Needed in this day of broken families. The most innate need a person has in family is the spiritual connection to the one loving Heavenly Father who yearns also for that relationship.
