Biography

Doing the unexpected has almost become expected of LeAnn Rimes. From her hit “Blue” nearly 15 years ago to her impressive new concept album of classic country standards, Lady & Gentlemen, LeAnn has always bravely followed her own inner compass and consistently maintained her musical integrity rather than simply following the musical trends of the day.

2.0 out of 5 stars Review about the music only June 12, 2013
Format:Audio CD
I am a fan of music, and I enjoy all types from classical to metal. I gave this album a chance on that premise, and it truly is not enjoyable music. My husband listens to country a majority of the time, and he feels the album sounds like music from a young teenager. The adult subject matter in the songs is the only way to know it is not music from someone in their teens. It truly doesn't stack up to her early work, and she seems to be lacking the spark she once had. I find most of the glowing 5 star reviews and most of the overly negative 1 star reviews to be very insulting to true music fans. It seems a lot of the 5 star reviews merely wanted to defend her as a person, and a lot of the 1 star reviews wantes to bash her as a person. I'd prefer to read five honest 4 star reviews than any amount of 1 star or 5 star reviews based off of personal opinions of a person instead of the music. Hopefully she goes back to what made her great in the beginning of her career, and releases an album that is more enjoyable than this one.

1.0 out of 5 stars The Old Leann Was Better July 22, 2014
Format:Audio CD
Leann used to be one of my favorite singers - her old ballads are still wonderful to listen too on the radio. She tried to cross over to pop and failed so now she's come back to country. The big problem with this CD is that she wrote most of the songs herself and unfortunately she's not a very good writer. I honestly don't know why she wrote so many sad songs about her affair with married man. As a fan I would much rather hear a beautiful love song or even a fun cheating song (like Carrie Underwood's Before He Cheats). This album is just depressing - there is not one original song I liked. The only song I might listen to again is a remake of gasoline and matches. Even Leann's voice seems less powerful on this album - I wonder if she can still belt out a song like How Do I Live. If she can find another record deal I hope she makes an album of powerful ballads. I miss the old Leann Rimes!

I think if she gave away some of these songs to another singer it'd have been better.. It's like nails on a chalkboard ripping into her poor ex and again- Brandi,,, jaw drop shock this girl has zero insight and sensitivity is absent.. It's like when brad Pitt put pics of him and Angela on a magazine cover "sensitivity chip" missing .. I refuse to buy the Album as I've demo d the songs... And i cant stomach the lyrics.., Shame on her ... I wanted her to mature and like this album.. Mabe she ll gain some humility on the next one ..

4.0 out of 5 stars An Actual CD Review April 16, 2013
By MReader
Format:Audio CD
I just purchased the UK version of Spitfire that came out on 4/15. I've been a fan of LeAnn's music since the 90's but her crazy personal life has thrown everyone a curveball. I knew Spitfire would feature songs related to the affair and her "side" of the story so I was excited to listen. After hearing the whole album I was surprised because I thought it could have been better. Yes songs like "Borrowed," "What Have I Done," "Where I Stood," and "I Do Now" are deep and personal but nothing is really catchy. For example, Alannis Morissette's Jagged Little Pill was deep and personal but it was catchy and radio friendly, the tracks on Spitfire are just bland. When I heard the concept for "Just A Girl" which was a song about LeAnn referring to Brandi Glanville (Eddie's ex) I thought it was strange how upbeat and carefree the beat sounded. I figured it would have been a slower arrangement considering shes talking about taking chances on a man who broke Brandi's heart initially. It just didn't fit the song. I do applaud LeAnn for writing and singing such deeply personal songs but something is missing here and i'm not sure what it is.

The fan's have waited over 3 years for Spitfire and it really had potential to be spectacular but it is just average to me. LeAnn should stop focusing on Hollywood and twitter and get back to putting music as her #1 top priority because with Spitfire it shows that the music has taken a back seat. There are some good tracks on Spitfire that deserve a listen, I listed them below.

Top Tracks:
God Takes Care of Your Kind
You've Ruined Me
I Do Now
Where I Stood

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing effort from a formerly gifted artist. June 11, 2013
By JennVB
Format:Audio CD
For those of you who love Country music, please save your money. I have adored this woman's voice since I first heard her open her mouth and sing "Blue". However, in all of the time it's taken her to write material and put together her long-awaited new album, I honestly thought I would hear pure gold when it dropped. Instead...a resounding THUMP. Don't get me wrong, LeAnn can still carry a tune, but perhaps she should rely on the readily available song writing talent in Nashville to help her with her next album. The music and lyrics did nothing to grab me or make me want to hit "repeat" on my iPod; that's a first for me concerning Ms. Rimes. After reading the NY Times review, my enthusiastic spark for new sound from LeAnn was on fire. After listening to the album all weekend long and trying to find *anything* catchy, that spark has been extinguished. Now I'm just bummed that a former Country great is gone AND I'd like my money back.

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible June 11, 2013
Format:Audio CD
I used to be a huge fan of LR but over the last 3 to 4 years she has become a nasty tabloid nightmare. That said, the songs on the album of cheesy and disappointing. I found the lyrics to be mean about the mother of her bonus children. She refuses to grow up and continues to blame all around her for the reactions she gets from her poor choices. She's lost a fan.
