Even Baby's Love Them,
By Mom of 8 "Mom of 8" (Minnesota) - See all my reviews

My baby Casey was 10 months old, unable to walk, but she could stand against the couch and shake her legs to "Big, Bad, Billy." My Church gave me inspirtation to help with our outreach ministry. My family loves to sing along with "Go Fish."

I love the Go Fish Guys, and I love that their music is safe for my kids. . . at least until I heard this cd. . . song #8, "Ladybug" I found very disturbing. It's about a ladybug frying on the sidewalk under a magnifying glass, and the chorus- the part the kids will remember- says something to the effect of "listen to it sizzle as it cooks in the sun, ladybug frying on the sidewalk, if this bug was a burger it would be well-done!" Awful!! NOT what I want my children singing about, or trying to do!

Our family only recently became Go Fish addicts (yeah, we are far behind, but, better late than never!). I have to admit that I slightly prefer SUPERSTAR over this one, but it's growing on me. I love the first three songs. "Big Bad Billy" is a silly song that my 5 year old loves to listen to over and over and over and, well, you get the idea. "You are mine" makes me cry because I have an adopted son from Romania and it makes me think of him when I hear it and I hope when he listens to it he feels all the love I have for him. "Planes, Phones & Microwaves" is okay. "This Little Light of Mine" - love it. I have to agree with the other mom on here that talked about the song "Ladybug" - boys pick up on the "fun" of frying a bug rather than the fact that the brother is a thug for doing it. I disagree with her on "My Very Own Church" though - it is one of my favorites!! It's silly and reflects the way kids think ... well, even me at times! I admit to sitting in church a time or two thinking some of the things mentioned in the song - short sermons, for one!! :) And the last song is a good one, too. Overall, I enjoy the majority of the songs on the CD and it's fun to sing along with your kids!! (Much better than some of that crud that passes for music these days!!)

Go Fish Guys were recommended to me by a friend and I first listened on youtube just to make sure my 6 1/2 year old daughter would like it. Not only did she like the music, but my husband and I also like it. We all find ourselves singing the songs even when they are not playing. Great spin on some classics, and cute new songs too. B-I-B-L-E is one of our favorites. I can't say enough great things about this cd, we absolutely LOVE it. And we are sure our daughter isn't listening to anything she shouldn't be.

The Return of "Acapella with an Attitude"...for Kids!,
By Josiah Oliver (Houston, TX, US) - See all my reviews

I was very surprised to read on the first flap of the CD that this was merely "vocals and percussion only." On my first listen, I could've sworn there were instruments (and not just the organ from the track from "My Very Own Church"). Even so, it's nice to hear the guys come back to where they started and this time get the kids in on the action. After listening to the guys in their first era sing "Alleluia," (think "Part of the Proof"), it is noted that the guys title the third track the same, but this time there is a very set of lyrics attached to this title. Even so, the message is amazing and backs up the older track by sort of giving it a background to go off of here.
I am looking forward to using this at the childrens ministry that I am interning in currently, and after listening through the CD twice, I am certain they will enjoy this. Furthermore, I am also tickled to find out that they still make their CDs fun just like in the previous era - don't let the time stamp given for "I'll Do My Best" fool you is all I'll say.

I loved the twists on the songs I learned growing up! This is something I'd pop in the car even without the kids :) .

Warning to Parents,
This review is from: Splash (Audio CD)
Music is upbeat but content is deceiving. It appears to be a Christian tape, but some songs were disturbing. "Lady Bug" is about a little boy that fries bugs with a magnifying glass. The majority of the song focuses on gross details with a brief tag that the boy is a thug. (Little boys are more likely to pick up on the how too's of bug incineration.) Very concerned with "My own Church". It encourages the mindset that corporate worship is on the same level as going to a circus. It is disrespectful and in poor taste. The artists are talented, but trying to appear not to take their faith too seriously so they appeal to secular market as well. Dissappointing at best, if you were looking for a good Christian cd.
