I just upgraded from an iPhone 3 to an iPhone 5. I was using the AGF Hard leather Holster (see my very good review) with the old phone. I purchased this holster because I like to have my phone bare. I like the fact that this holster is thin and light. I also like that it allows the phone to be put in face-in or face-out and that when it is in place it feels secure and locked in well. But after that things start to go downhill.

First I agree with others that the locking mechanism for the phone is awkward. It's just difficult and not very fluid like. Once the phone is unlocked it can only come out at a certain angle which is, again, somewhat awkward. What I really liked about the AGF holster was that the locking mechanism was at the ends, not on the sides as this one is, and that it just slipped into place. It did not need to be at a certain angle to work, but when it locked in it was just as secure as it is in this one. One other issue is that no matter if you place the phone in face-in or face-out, you must place it so the volume buttons are pointing towards the side with the lock. This is because if you put it in the other way there is a small lip there that compresses the buttons while in the case.

I like the 360 degree swivel for the clip, but it's so difficult to use that you need to take it off your belt and use two hands to make it swivel. Also the stand locks every time you go to clip the holster on or take it off your belt. The stand, in my opinion, is an added feature that is not needed. It is a nice thought, but it adds complications and if I had to choose between the problems added by having it and not having it at all, I would choose the latter.

I will continue to use it for the time being, but I am keeping my eyes open for an alternative. If I find one that meets my requirements, I will not hesitate to switch.

This holster is good, but has one major sign flaw. The felt lining and common sense dictate the the screen go toward your body. I find that the case then compresses the volume buttons and causes the ringer volume to change just by being the case. Major design flaw.

I searched the entire time I owned an iPhone 4 for a holster that did not require a case to use with it.

I typically do not use a case for my phone because I don't see the need; it bulks up the size of the phone and it impedes the view of a nicely designed gadget. I also like to use clip on accessories, such as the olloclip lens, which requires a 'naked' phone to use.

When I do need to have my phone within hand's reach, the holster is a convenient accessory. Without the holster I would have to put the phone in my pocket (where it easily falls out in the bathroom), or in my hand (women's clothing often has no functional pockets) making other tasks with my hands that much more awkward.

I was really happy to find this holster for my iPhone 5 so I would not have to deal with another 2 years of inadequate handling.

The two things I would do to improve the product would be to allow a hole for quick camera usage and to allow the clip to open a little wider before popping into 'stand position'.

I bought this because I was looking for a single-piece belt holster for the iPhone5. This phone is elegantly thin, and I didn't want it bulked up with a two-piece contraption. It came and I was happy with it for a few weeks. Then one of the molded hinges in the clip assembly broke and it became unusable, so I returned it. I would have gotten another one except for my belief this is not a defective one, but rather is a design/materials issue, in which case a similar fate would plague all or most of them.

This fits the iPhone nicely, but the feature that holds the clip open can allow the phone to fall off the belt. It can accidentally be put in the 'open' position when it is on your belt. I have had the clip fall off. You must be diligent to click the holder Off the open position

The case rests in landscape mode to act as a stand for viewing, but does not stand in portrait mode.

This holster case is one piece, made of a hard, slick plastic - kind of like the plastic used on the inside of cars. It almost makes my hand feel sweaty. It's cool looking, with it's minimalist design, and functions well as a holster clip. The phone is easy to slide in and easy to remove, which is good, because there is not a camera hole cutout. The clip itself swivels, uses the standard spring, but has a locking position as well - although it locks only about the width of one of my fingers. I like that I can hold the phone with one finger while the clip is opened in the lock position.

What I don't like: is that the clip does not open wide enough for it to act as a stand for portrait mode viewing, and the landscape resting position feels a tad unstable - like it wasn't designed with this feature in mind, but rests in landscape mode without having to move the clip itself. If the clip would open wider, to allow for a more stable and angled viewing experience, it would be perfect. It does the job of clipping onto my belt just fine and doesn't feel like it will fall out. Just would like it to be more functional as a stand.
