Techno deconstruction,
By mr. flux "radio free borscht" (Boston, MA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Splazsh (Audio CD)
This album is suffused with mood. At first listen it reminded me of a quiter, more subdued Burial. But that's only one or two tracks. The whole thing is an exercise of subgenre-hopping. It's what makes the album most intriguing. The backbone is distinctly rooted in techno-dubstep-microhouse but the permutations beyond invoke the late 70s of Gary Numan, 80s synth pop and all the music released in the late 90s-early 00s on the Supperclub Lounge compilations. It's an album enjoyed evenings eating chocolate drinking wine and on headphones fighting for personal space in a crowded subway car. For either active or passive listening it's a pleasure.
