Product Description

Never!!! Never use Scotch tape on your audio or videotape. Eventually a chemical reaction will cause the glue to melt down and leak to adjacent parts of the tape and damage it beyond repair. Splicing tape is specially formulated for magnetic Mylar tape. Guaranteed not to melt or bleed.

It said this tape could be used for 8-track tape, so I thought it was metallic tape, It won't change tracks because its not mettalic.

I am not experienced with tape splicing, but I will try to give the best review possible anyway. The tape is less than 1/4" thick (which I assume it should be, or it wouldn't fit in the block, right?) and is on a fairly small roll. I don't think it has 1200' of tape on it, but it works anyway. I have no complaints about the tape; it is very strong and sticky enough to hold the tape together, but not too sticky, so it can be peeled off if you make a mistake. I've made a few mistakes while making a remix, so that is quite convenient.

Even radio shack no longer has splicing tape to mend breaks in reel to reel recordings. This is the item and was received promptly and in good shape.

Just what I needed to splice some old tapes. Works just like new. With a little trimming I can also use it to splice cassette tapes. The splices on old cassette tapes can fail. By locating the splices and adding a new splice before the old splice fails, I avoid the need to take the cassette apart for the repair. I just locate the splice by hand winding, catch the tape with a small toothpick, and pull out the splice. I add the new splice on the opposite side as the old splice. After reinforcing the splice on both ends of the tape, I can play the tape normally without worrying about the splice between the tape and the leader failing.
