About the Author

Trena Cole was born in the 1950's. She overcame the severe, unrelenting abuse she was subjected to as a child to become a successful businesswoman and a nurturing mother. After writing her first book, "Charred Souls," Trena's therapist urged her to write a second book describing how the abuse she endured as a child has effected her adult life. Trena speaks to groups, including Social Work students and Foster Parents, in an attempt to try to break the cycle of child abuse through education and understanding of the effects.

is evident in her second book. I've read them both, Charred Souls and Splintered Emotions, and it seems like her state of mind was so much more settled in this book than the first one. I love her style and she did a wonderful job explaining how the effects of child abuse effect all of society, not just the survivors and the people in their lives. Once again, I applaud her courage and talent.

This book reminds me of a self published book, and I'm not terribly impressed. I have only read through the first couple of chapters, and while there are a couple of good things, most of it is about the author and seems to have been written for her own healing. I would not have bought this book, had I known it was like this.

After reading Trena's first book I looked forward to reading her second book. Both books are extremely insightful and encouraging. I like that she shares her experiences and also adds solid advice to deal with such trauma.
Through her own experiences she educates the reader about what effects may occur in adulthood. I have read both her books more than once and learn more each time I read them. Her story is encouraging because after the abuse she suffered she still managed to break the cycle and become an inspiration. I think it is another amazing book and I highly recommend reading it.
I hope there is another book to come.
