It's a rainy day on Sesame Street. But everyone is having a good time--they're splashing in puddles, listening to the rain pitter-patter, and watching the trees dance in the wind. You don't always need the sun to have fun!

Unexpectedly good,
By jodienut (Pennsylvania, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Splish-Splashy Day (Pictureback(R)) (Paperback)
Got this at the grocery store a few years back, and every time my kids and I read it I think how much I like it. Evocative language - listen to this: "Tulips lift bright heads and listen. Green leaves drink, drip, and glisten." And even consonance - "Shiny cars swoosh down the street. Galoshes slosh upon our feet." You really feel the rain. Granted, the author does rhyme "thunder" with "umbrellas up and all get under!" BUT if your child is out in a thunderstorm without you... hmm. Probably you could just mention correct storm safety to your child. Great little book!

fun in the rain,
This review is from: Splish-Splashy Day (Sesame Street Golden Books) (Hardcover)
My daughter loved this (until she tore it up)paperback book. It shows fun in the rain, and yes, the monsters do use umbrellas in the rain. Doesn't everyone? I assume it is out of print or it couldn't possibly cost 18 dollars....

cute but misinformed,
By A Customer
This review is from: S.S./Splish-Splashy Day (Sesame Street) (Paperback)
This book is certainly cute. However, it tells the readers that during at lightening storm you should put up your umbrella and huddle under it. This is a dangerous thing for children to see their Sesame Street heros doing because they think everything these heros do is ok. Hiding under an umbrella during a lighting storm puts your life in danger of being electricuted. I was very disappointed in this book. I read it at a Dr.'s office and I requested that they remove it from their book rack.
