Why haven't the Guilloteens gained superstardom yet?,
By J. HooveR "Pimp of the Written and Recorded Word" (Sugar Land, TX United States) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Split (Audio CD)
I have listened to this album over and over, and while the THIS MOMENT IN BLACK HISTORY tracks are all well and good, the album's last half is what really shines.
Why The Fatal Flying Guilloteens are not more widely known and loved is simply an abberation I will chalk up to the fact that the majority of America has bad taste. The wailing vocal onslaught of both singers Mike Guilloteen and Shawn Guilloteen will leave you running for the nearest bomb shelter or simply to the bathroom to change your underwear. This EP comes close to outshining the band's previous two releases, but leaves us salivating ravenously for a new LP's-worth of just Guilloteens tracks. One hopes that in a future release, we will see the Guilloteens put their two singers to use in the same track (rumor has it that such a track almost made it to this release). Crossing my fingers for a full-length release in 2005. If you're upset with the state of punk rock today, then friends, you need to experience the FATAL FLYING GUILLOTEENS. |
