An excellent book on the subject of Projective Identification, a psychodynamic concept developed by Melanie Klein and her group of followers, namely Wilfred Bion, Hanna Segal and Herbert Rosenfeld. Boring
If you like redundancy, then this is the book. I have never read a book so boring in explaining two psychoanalytical concepts such as splitting and projective identification. Grotstein's book is so convoluting that it confused me even more in understanding those concepts rather than help. Upon completing the reading, I found this book to be a waste of my time and money...

An excellent book on the subject of Projective Identification, a psychodynamic concept developed by Melanie Klein and her group of followers, namely Wilfred Bion, Hanna Segal and Herbert Rosenfeld.
Probably the J. S. Grotstein book is the best introduction on the subject from a post-kleinian and post-bionian standpoint. Highly recomended and can be complemented by the T. H. Ogden book.

If you like redundancy, then this is the book. I have never read a book so boring in explaining two psychoanalytical concepts such as splitting and projective identification. Grotstein's book is so convoluting that it confused me even more in understanding those concepts rather than help. Upon completing the reading, I found this book to be a waste of my time and money. I am extremely skeptical in purchasing his other works. I do not recommend this book to anyone who is training in psychoanalytical concepts particularly the ones that are this book's title. Rather, you are better off reading other literature that explains these concepts in language and thought that will teach rather than bore or confuse. This book is a definite DO NOT BOTHER WITH!
