These are similar to my Spode Christmas Tree dishes made in England - but very poor quality. There are bubbles in the finish and very definite spots on the back of the dishes where the glaze did not cover the clay. Very very disappointing. If you are looking for a cute set to serve at Christmas, these might be fine, but if you are expecting real English Spode, then do not order these.

Be aware that the Spode Christmas Tree you used to know is not avaialable anymore. It is now manufactured in Maylasia and China. Same price, but total junk!

Nothing will ever say "Christmas" to me like the classic Spode Christmas Tree china. It's a classic and timeless design.

Amazon has a very good price for this set. It's definitely more economical that purchasing individual pieces or place settings.

Unfortunately, the old English-made Spode Christmas tree is no longer available. These are made in Malaysia, and the quality of the glazing (especially on the back of the plates) is of significantly lower quality than the English version. That being said, the front of the plate looks good, and 99% of people aren't going to flip it over and inspect the back.

When I received this set from Amazon, I was extremely disappointed to find that it is made in Malaysia, NOT England. I looked at numerous pieces in the Spode Christmas Tree line at Macy's, and discovered that almost all of them are made in Malaysia or China. I believe that Amazon has incorrectly listed the country of origin as England for a number of these pieces.

At Macy's I compared the coloring of plates made in England with pieces from Malaysia and China. There are subtle differences, particularly in the color red.

It is a shame when a respected English china company sells out local workers & moves production to Asia.
The 'new' china and flatware is ok for Xmas novelties, but the heirlooms passed down from mom to the kids is a thing of the past.
The sad part is (like another reviewer mentioned) the list prices for this Asian junk are pretty steep.
I suggest taking your chances buying the old English-made stuff on ebay & hoping it arrives as advertised. If successful you'll have 'the good stuff' instead of mass-produced, inferior quality nic-nacs.

I tried to rate this product on Macy's several days ago, where I stated that this product is made in Maylasia and for potential buyers to be aware of that, but they did not publish my review. So, do know that Macy's only posts reviews that help boost their sales. Kudos to Amazon for publishing our reviews!! So, do be aware that the Spode Christmas Tree pattern is no longer manufactured in England (like it was for the past 60 years) and now made strictly in China and Maylasia. Spode touts itself as being this great British company with a tradition of making fine china, but their objective is now to make as much money off of naive American consumers forsaking quality and tradition.

THis is J-U-N-K. SO SAD! HOWEVER---For those of you looking for the original Spode etc. try going to look at Replacements.com. They carry old Estate sales, old dept store leftovers and private stocks as well, which VERY often may be the English china we are looking for! They even have a place you can write in and ask them to see if they can find what you are looking for! I spent two hours on that site just a minute ago and found 2 old patterns that had been discontinued for myself and was able to FINALLY get the pieces i was so sad about losing!! They are VERY NICE PEOPLE to deal with too! EXCELLENT! 5 stars! Give it a try! I wasnt looking for the Spode but I found stuff i havent seen ANYWHERE else in YEARS!

I own the same set and LOVE it. It is beautiful and my son always gets excited when he sees us pull them out. By the way I bought these at Macys for the same price that Amazon is selling them so doesn't really seem like such a great price for Amazon.

This year I decided to buy enough sets of the Spode Christmas Tree dinnerware sets so that every place setting would look perfect for Christmas dinner. They were the PERFECT touch. Everyone was very impressed with how they looked. I don't remember the "original" Spode dishes, so I have no negative comparisons to make to the so-called "real" ones. I think that if you just enjoy them for their beauty, you will be quite happy with these.

Good deal. Same quality as what you would buy in the store at a much more reasonable price. Wish I had bought two sets!
