5.0 out of 5 stars beautiful in it's brutality
I'll start by saying that the only other album I've heard by these guys is Chronoclast. Spoils of Failure follows in the same vein, but as a whole is stronger, and more varied. In a word: better.

For those new to the band, it is a fantastic place to start. Buried Inside are masters at making the heavy and the hectic emotional, and powerful. Occasionally (such...

1.0 out of 5 stars Duller than any death metal I've ever heard
I bought this record 4 months ago, and can't listen to it. Maybe all studio work and no touring make Buried Inside a dull band. Don't take me as someone who keeps track of death metal bands, generall don't like that sub-genra. Every song on this record sounds, you know, exactly the same, and it's slow and drawn out. This review is from: Spoils of Failure (Audio CD)

Occasionally (such as on I) they seem to drone on, but they never bore. the song moves forward like a march building up tension and then exploding in pure emotion.

And that's what it boils down to. Both musicianship, and song structure are great, amazing even, but what keeps bringing me back are the feelings and power each member pours into every song. Spoils of Failure is beautiful in it's brutality, overwhelming without becoming chaotic. A must have for fans and those new to the band alike.

This review is from: Spoils of Failure [Vinyl] (Vinyl)
I bought this record 4 months ago, and can't listen to it. Maybe all studio work and no touring make Buried Inside a dull band. Don't take me as someone who keeps track of death metal bands, generall don't like that sub-genra. Every song on this record sounds, you know, exactly the same, and it's slow and drawn out. I read the lyrics, pretty creative stuff. But no one can understand what he's saying so don't bother. A kataklysmic failure. It's a shame the vinyl is of such high production value. The music on it does not deserve that sort of treatment.
