5.0 out of 5 stars This Game ROCKS!!!
I think that this game is the best SpoungeBob game that they have ever made. Some of the games, like SpoungeBob and the Dutchman, are almost completely pointless to me. I usually think that SpoungeBob is dumb, but this game is so fun! You get to be Sandy Cheeks, Patrick Starfish, and of course, SpoungeBob Squarepants. I can sit and play it for hours! I gave this game 5...

1.0 out of 5 stars I do not recomend at all
My children had been playing with Mario's World and the Incredibles for over 3 months. We bought this game given the good reviews but after 1 day I am very disappointed. My kids have been for over 4 hours in level two, collecting points little by litte repeting the same routines ... they who love gamecube games, got really bored and turned it off. There are no...

A Kid's Review
This review is from: SpongeBob SquarePants: The Battle for Bikini Bottom (Video Game)
I gave this game 5 stars because of the animation (it's in 3-D and the technique's not cheesy at all), the voices (they sound exactly like the do on the show), and most of all, how fun the game is. It's not like Mario for Super Nintendo, where you follow a path and that's it, it's more like Mario Sunshine, where you can go all over the place, like an adventure type deal. There are about 10 Stages and somewhere around 10 levels within the stages. This is a good game to just sit, relax and play for hours. (If you want to try it, rent it from somewhere to try it out and see if you like the game or not. That's what I did.)

4.0 out of 5 stars good and solid platform game, January 18, 2005
By
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: SpongeBob SquarePants: The Battle for Bikini Bottom (Video Game)
If there's one cartooncharacter that immediately will turn a smile on my face it's Spongebob.
Everything about this yellow guy is funny: his voice, his laugh, his view on life and so on.
When I saw the game on the shelves of my favorite gamesshop I didn't hesitate to buy it, I didn't regret it a single day.
Now what's so good about it?

Is the game innovative? Nope.
Is the game up with te best platform games like Mario, Ratchet & Clank etc.? Nope.
Is it any fun then? Yes, it's great fun!

First of all, the graphics are really great, Spongebob's 3D-world (translation from 2D) is very well done and looks very similair to the world in the series, very colorful, charming and funny. The characters too are nicely animated, especially Patrick. Spongebob himself looks a bit weird in 3D, but still very funny.

The gameplay is that of an average platform game, in some cases very like Mario 64 (turning cubes). The real fun lies in switching from characters: becoming Sandy is the most fun, flying in the air using her lasso while shouting in redneck slang.
In general the game is rather easy to play and die-hard gamers will rush through this game like it is peanuts. I'm not very skilled, however, and it took me a while to beat this game. But still there are very few real challenges; some endbosses are tough to beat, especially the Spongebob-robot, but that's it.

There isn't really a story, only the knowledge that Plankton couldn't longer control his robots and that Spongebob is offered to safe Bikini Bottom for which he in return gets golden spatulas.
Yes there are quite a few cut scenes, mostly dialogues between characters which all are very funny, but you can hardly call it a story.

It may seem now that I'm pretty negative about this game in the end, but that is certainly not the case, I loved every minute I played the game, mostly because of the great looking animations, humor and overall platform gameplay.

Good:
- The world created: great looking surroundings, characters, robots etc. You can sense that the developers put a lot of effort and love (for Spongebob and his friends) in this game.
- The gameplay, although not innovative and original, is solid and fun to play.
- The humor, need I say more?

Bad:
- It can become repetitive after a while (especially for those who play a lot of games and obviously are spoiled in a way, as said: it isn't innovative).
- For some a bit too easy
- I wished more things in Bikini Bottom to be interactive, for instance the Crusty Crab: it would have been nice if you could walk into the kitchen and make your own Crabby Patty.

This a fantastic game that is funny and you have to use your logic to fugure out how to get through. I am very smart and it still leaves me puzzled how to get through this game. It is very hilarious and the characters are comical. The instead of lives these charecters have underwear. And the best thing you can get in this game is a golden spatula. This is definetly my favorite gamecube game and that is saying a lot because I have played about 30 different games for gamecube. I would highly recommed this game for children.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Platformer ever Made, July 4, 2004
A Kid's Review
This review is from: SpongeBob SquarePants: The Battle for Bikini Bottom (Video Game)
This game is awesome. Nickelodeon games never have the best graphics but in this game the graphics are great especially simple-designed characters like Patrick and Plankton. The story is that Plankton makes these robots that don't obey him and try to rampage the town. The sound and music have improved since "Flying Dutchman." Now, there's good music for each level and each situation unlike in the last where music changes depending on what Spongebob is wearing. The only complaint about this I have is Mr. Krabs and Mermaidman have different voices and Spongebob acts stupid by trying to pass off stupid jokes and euphemisms but it's not a big deal. The gameplay is great. In addition to Spongebob, you can play as Patrick and Sandy. At parts, it is challenging beating robots and solving puzzles but a challenge is a good thing most of the time. If there is one Nickelodeon game you must buy this year, it is this one. Get it now!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars This is such a cool game!, February 23, 2004
This review is from: SpongeBob SquarePants: The Battle for Bikini Bottom (Video Game)
This game is awesome! My boyfriend reanted it for our 2-year-old who loves Spongebob, and me and him played it all weekend! Even my niece who doesn't like video games enjoys it. Some areas are diffcult, but they never seem impossible. I also like the fact that there isn't really any violence. After watching Daddy play "Manhunt" my son decided to hit us, and he has "learned karate" from "Rise to Honor". Spongebob blows bubbles at the robots (who have taken over bikini bottom, thanks to Plankton). This game is at the same time simple and complicated. Some parts require precise timing, but this is the coolest video game I have ever played.

5.0 out of 5 stars Review, November 21, 2003
This review is from: SpongeBob SquarePants: The Battle for Bikini Bottom (Video Game)
This game isn't very difficult. However, it is fun to play. Almost as fun to play as watching Spongebob on tv. If only the game allowed you to be Plankton... My advice: Create a Spongebob Squarepants character melee game. That'd be cool... But I digress. There are many things about this game, highest of which is it's fun and witty.

My 5 yo son loves this game although it's a little hard for him at times. But no game should be TOO easy.

This is a great game that's kept my son (6 yrs old) and me entertained a long time. Lots of levels, cool moves and great story line. Challenging enough that adults and big kids don't get bored, but easy enough that younger kids don't get discouraged. Plus there is a whole section in the Mermalair :-) Definite 5 star game!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great family game, January 9, 2004

This game is awesome! My 7yr old daughter and I both love the game so much that we're always fighting over the controller. The game is simple at first then definitely gets more challenging. We are new to Gamecube and there are some parts of the game that she hasn't mastered yet and that's when I get my turn to play. The game is so cute, well designed, and even my husband who is more into Zelda and Metroid likes the game. The few bad reviews I've read give no specific reason for not liking it. I like this 100 times more than Pac-Man World 2 and Super Mario Sunshine.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unadulterated Fun, March 29, 2005
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: SpongeBob SquarePants: The Battle for Bikini Bottom (Video Game)
This is the most fun I've had playing a video game since the NES days of Super Mario Brothers. THQ continues to dazzle and amaze me with their stellar attention to graphics, detail and gameplay. The Battle for Bikini Bottom pits Spongebob, Patrick & Sandy against the evil Plankton who has created robots to take over the world. The tasks are achievable and leveled just right for its' targeted age range. But, most of all this game is just plain fun to play. Each character has special moves that enable you to achieve tasks. Being able to switch between characters for different tasks made the game more enjoyable for me. The game is somewhat long but rewarding, as the storyline is funny and entertaining. Overall, the Battle for Bikini Bottom status as a player's choice game (over 1 million copies sold) should cement it's status as a must own for the Nintendo Gamecube platform. Highly Recommended.
