Lots of small challenges to collect stickers and doodles to create your own portrait. The parrot gives an interesting tool for drawing additional things. The 3D is great but can be too much if played for too long. Just adjust the 3D level as needed from full 3D to none. Lots of fun for the Spongebob fans. Our 9 year old and 7 year old boys each play this game with no problems and both have a fun time playing it.

Ok, we all know this is a Wario Ware steal BUT it's a very high quality well made steal, If you're not familiar with wario ware games they're in short a 100 to about 200 games that span 5 sec. each in one game cartridge.
This game is fun and entertaining, the quality it's made of made me doubt that Nintendo was behind its development . If you love sponge bob then you'll probably buy this game anyways ...BUT if you love sponge bob and wario ware .. then you have a combo dream came true (btw i love both). the gameplay , art styles ,3D usage, animation, movies and extras are excellent. I thought this is one of those show tie-in games but I was wrong , well done nickelodean .
Btw I did not play the Wii version but I think the game and graphics are similar . except that the 3DS version (as mentioned behind the package) have a bonus stage specially made for the 3DS .
the only thing I didn't like in this game is the "shake mini games" ..why? because I can't enjoy what's drawn while shaking my 3DS :)

You could argue whatever the heck you want about the Spongebob Squarepants cartoon in terms of whether or not it still held its quality still after the 2004 movie or not, but if there's one thing that could hold true, it's that there are still video game developers that try to deliver gaming goodness with the pompous yellow utensil. Case in point is Wayforward's Spongebob Squigglepants, which apparently apes the WarioWare series; you play through loads of few-second microgames.

The game's host, Patchy the [childishly goofy and obsessive] Pirate, decides to open up a Spongebob Art Gallery. The portraits he displays to you (one at a time) are where the minigames are held, and they all follow the theme of the portrait you clicked on. You have minigames looking like doodles, with an abstract art style, an almost NES-y pixelated look, etc. This also makes for some humorous(ly animated) scenes like Patrick trying to rock out before a crowd.

The microgames themselves purely and blatantly follow the footsteps of Nintendo's garlic-eating antagonist. This isn't a bad thing, though, since WarioWare has been known for providing zany portable play and playing around with Nintendo's new innovations. This somewhat holds true here, as the game does have microgames where you use the Circle Pad and tilt/shake the 3DS, but a lot of these use the touch-screen. And while the games themselves are entertaining, they tend to be repeated a couple times too often in one session.

Not to mention, the game can be beaten quickly; if you don't count the post-game content, you could finish this in an hour or two. Regardless, once you get past the length and possible repetition, Spongebob Squigglepants is a solid 3DS offering for fans of WarioWare and/or crazy minigames. You don't even need to like Spongebob to enjoy this one!

I have had so much fun with this game! The 3D is great, the games are great. It kind of reminded me of Rhythm Heaven but so much less frustrating. I don't mean to say that Spongebob Squiggle pants is real easy though. One of the things that was so cool about this game is that it had Patchy the Pirate in real time! Just like you would see him on TV!! He talks to you in the beginning and in between games and is so funny! Such an awesome touch! Especially for the big Spongebob fans, such as I am.

The bad: I only have 2 complaints. The volume is so low when Patchy the Pirate talks. It's hard to hear him. :( What a bummer. The other bad side is that the whole game is too short, at least I think. I wanted more!

All in all, definitely a game worth buying and having some great fun!!!

I agree with the previous reviewer that this game is a Wario Ware knockoff. My daughters couldn't figure it out at first and they asked my help. The second I started playing it, it reminded me of playing Wario Ware on the Game Cube with my son. It is a collection of super quick mini games that you have to figure out what they want you to do and do it in just a few seconds. Once you get the hang of it, it is pretty darn fun. That being said, I made it from Start to the final credits in about 1 hour of play time. I think if this game had several more levels, I would have given it 5 stars.
